So if you haven't heard, Google just came out with a new web browser called Chrome.

http://www.google.com/chrome

It's just the beta version, so it really doesn't measure up to Firefox as a browser, but Chrome has got a lot going for it already. Mainly, the speed. When Firefox 3.0 came out, tests were run that showed that it was almost 10 times faster than IE 7. Well, tests have shown that Chrome is roughly 10 times faster than Firefox 3.0.

It's got some cool stuff so it's worth checking out. But of course there are downsides. Apparently they messed up the security, so it'd be wise not to download anything with it just yet. And Google made a very possessive disclaimer which has scared some people away from using it just yet.

I actually rather like it

Google products are in perpetual beta.
I mean, they still say Gmail is in beta, Google Video as well.

Chrome does better on the ACID tests than Firefox, so it even strives to be standards complaint.
And I really like their tab system, saves quite a bit of room

And Google says they'll change the scary EULA- http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080903-google-on-chrome-eula-controversy-our-bad-well-change-it.html

Google is internet's Wal-Mart. And I don't mean the low quality crap they sell, but the fact they have everything.

Be that as it may, Google got it right. Almost everything. They are quite possibly the smartest company in existence as far as internet services go. I use their stuff all the time and the products are not only better than the competition, they are free. Once the EULA is sorted out, Chrome it is.

just missing a few features I like with firefox

Hmm...Just downloaded it and I am using it right now while typing this.  So far the only thing I see that I don't currently like is that with our forums here it doesn't resize it to all fit how it should.  However, our forums are optimized to be used specifically with Google Chrome either.

o.0 I think the forums look exactly the same...I actually haven't seen any major differences in layout between Firefox 3 and Chrome yet. Even the RWL home page is still broken...which I should fix since Peace definitely isn't fixing it anytime soon. -.-

I honestly don't notice any severe speed differences betweeen browsers that I've used, in truth firefox 3.0 ran far slower than ie 7/8 for me, even though it probably shouldn't be that way.....

I actually don't trust google personally, I use other search engines which work fine for me, and I actually prefer them to google  :)

I'll stick to Firefox. I have enough with just using Google and Gmail.

That's what I'm noticing. Speeds are virtually irrelevant on my computer though, because I have a great processor and I still use XP.

I've also noticed with Chrome that when a tab is loading and I'm viewing another tab it won't "go" to that new page until I switch back to that tab that was loading.

*shrugs* I don't think that's a necessary function, personally I'd find it annoying if my tabs switched without warning while I was reading another tab.

No no, you misread and I prolly did not make that clear.  A tab on Chrome doesn't finish loading that tab as in it will be on the previous page until I go and switch back to that tab before it loads to the page I had clicked on...

So lets say I was at the RWL homepage and I click on the forums link...the page begins loading, I open a new tab to browse for something else.  I click back on the RWL tab and its still on the RWL homepage for a full second even though its already "loaded" the Forums

Google updated their TOS, rather quick

I dont notice any lag in loading...  at all.  Be sure its not a fault of the server you're connecting to instead of the browser.  Our server in particular has been known to have its quirks.
