There's so many old topics, for example I looked on general discussion and there was 123 pages! They might be useful sometimes to look back on but when was the last time anyone looked at them and how much memory do they take up  ???

It depends, some like the immortilizations and whatnot are very important/ Also there's old topics with troop costs/ratios out there. Some topics are really useful.
On the other hand, what use are topics like "Ninja chicken revolution" (made by me hehehe :D) ever gonna be?

I'm currently in top position by a huge margin BUT I'm intentionally dropping down to the bottom.

Yes, we need to keep the old topics. You never know when you might what to look something random up.

I know most people will disagree with me but we always complain about blue host being clogged up, but how many files do these old topics take up  ???

Gen. Volkov

Very few, the problem isn't the forums, it's the game servers.

You're probably right but could anyone tell me how much they take up and how much the forum's take up.  ???

Unknown...That is a question for Peace.
The stance on topics and posts is that we are NOT to delete them...this has been the ruling for as far back as I have been here which has been since the very first round of the game, when there was no turbo and the game had over hundreds of people playing at once.

The issues we have with bluehost are CPU power related. Processing all those turns, and missions and stuff takes a lot of CPU power. Having lots of old topics does not ad a lick to our CPU usage.

If you'd like, create a new file with notepad
Type a ton of text in it, and save it.  Then look at the file size.
Its going to be fairly tiny compared to the other files on your computer
MS Word etc. files are larger because they store formatting et. all

The forum does not use static files, it uses a mysql database...  however, my point is that text is cheap to store.  Whatever formatting your post has is contained in the tags you add to it,
Quoteand so on
The only 'problem' I can think of off the top of my head is that a search on the forums will take a very slightly longer time as it has more to go through.  Otherwise there shouldnt be any problem

Old topics can't be deleted. Ever.

Even if they are somewhat embarrassing...
