what if you just lowered the value of food? that would make it still possible to win by massing food but make it harder

that would sort of solve the problem. The major issue is when there is no counter to the strat, as it's near impossible to rob the massers. I believe we've made it easier now, with the fix to sacking forcing them to take off 100% to leaders in the training. Also, the stoat race is acting as a great equalizer because of it's powerful ability to offensively with leaders

Sacking is underpowered as is poison however, so it's frustraitingly hard to damage food massers. Maybe add an extra spell where you steal food but they lose less?(eg poison lose 2bil food, steal say 1.3bil but you gain that food yourself.)

Poison is definitely NOT underpowered. Sack is though.

If you had something worth destroying it would be destroyed

but no, poison is over 10% kills shielded, 3% unshielded. That's pretty major.
