It has been my pleasure to serve as the leader of the League of The Scarlet Pimpernel over the last few months. I have never been more proud of any clan's achievements, or more impressed by each and every member's participation level and commitment to the clan and its love of the game. First and foremost, I would like to thank them.

It isn't much of a secret that I set out to do what I boldly (arrogantly) labelled as saving RWL. When I signed up, Reg had a total of 25 players, including those in protection. The League was formed with the general role of improving RWL, but with specific tasks to ensure it didn't just remain an ideal. Each week, every member was given a mission to perform that would in some way benefit RWL or its members. Of course, one of the main ways of doing this was to make reg interesting. And the only real way of doing that was to set up a clan that could talk big and back it up. Force people to sign up to take us out, or put fire in the bellies of normally dormant players. So the League were the elite. We needed to be a challenge, and so we were.

In turn, we faced extreme criticism, with calls for our disbanding, some wonderful slurs, and general dissent among the ranks of RWLers. And that was great. If nothing else, we achieved our goal just by getting people interested again. Clan forums were filled up with talk of us, enemy clans were formed to take us down, oldbies came back to sink their teeth into the clan crying out for competition. I couldn't have been more pleased.

But that was just part of it. This board had remained mostly abandoned for a long time. And we got the place buzzing, most of the posts on this board are taken up with the League. All over the forums, posts went crazy, and the stats show it. That was another of our goals, with each League member at some stage being instructed to start new threads in the forum to ensure it didn't all die off, in some cases to write something provocative to spark angry replies. We knew what we were doing.

Who couldn't say that the last month or two hasn't been a bucketload of fun again, both in and out of the game? And it kept going. We wanted the game to be fun for all the vets out there, but we didn't want the new players driven away, either. So at different times, we aided the bottom ranked players to give them some incentive to keep playing. We sent messages offering help in the form of tactics or suggestions on how to play. And we each went out of our way to get new people signed up, or old ones to return. This wasn't a haphazard affair, we were serious about making this place the way it should be.

I made a comment once saying nobody had done before what we were doing. I was called on that and now I respond with this post. Never before have a clan tried so hard to breathe life into this game we love. And I have my members to thank for that, for without their dedication nothing would have eventuated. At one stage, we had over 50 players in reg. That's double what they were when I signed up. No way can we take credit for all of that, but I'd like to think some of it is true.

In the last month, however, League have fallen apart, with school and exams, work, and personal issues taking preference over RWL. We couldn't hold land as a clan anymore, so we made an emperor which was supposed to be less work. It succeeded for about a week. We were a shambles, I had some personal stuff going on, and nearly half of our members died from inactivity. And in turn, the interest level went down, and reg dropped down to less players again. League tread new ground, and made great strides, but is now too stale to remain aspiring to higher places.

I feel we did succeed, we did do wonderful things for the game, the League was a clan unlike any other. It's just time for someone or something else to take its place.

Once again, I would like to thank my wonderful clan for all of their efforts. If nothing else, I had a blast doing this again, and made some new friends despite my tyrannical leadership ;) Thanks gents.

Terribly sad to see League go. Was fun while it lasted though, thanks for making the clan Holbs/Percy. I look back on our rampage through the game and forums with humor and fondness.

To all my fellow Leaguers: It's been fun being in a clan with you for the last few months. I sure hope you got the same enjoyment out of League that I did.

Just a small note:

Holby had told me his intention before he started the league, and carried out what he had said he would. All the acting arrogant on the forums was just role play, to get the forums moving. It was never about taking the top spots, but allowing themselves to be the evil villains to take the slings and arrows of the players to add excitement.

I see all in the games. Never before have I seen any clan work so close together.  They have over 100 topics in their clan forum.  I was even invited to the "chat rooms" as they made many runs. The members of the league were never self serving of themselves and freely sent their goods to each other and to other players in the game.  Many were teaching new players.

The league will go down as one of the great clans, but I give it the top spots for the best intended and best coordinated.

Well done, Holby & League. You did indeed make the game more exciting, though I kind of came in on the tail end of it. Ditto wolf's summary.

*cries* I miss my clan.

sorry to those of you who asked me to start playing the game to help take down the League.

if my computer didn't stop working I'd have been more active this last month, I haven't been able to run with the rest of the clan for a very, very long time.

From The Scarlet Pimpernel (#174) (?)

This clan came into existence primarily to better RWL on several levels. Despite our short time together, we've already achieved much to illustrate we're being incredibly successful.

Let's overlook the wonderufl stir and in-game craziness we've dealt to reg with our quick rise, and take a moment to notice everything else.

New players:
Vattys (#237)
Meh (#256)
Alazar's Massive Hordes (#243)
Dieri (#245)
OakenShield (#240)
I HAZ A SPOON (#234)
Invader Zimm
fatman (#293)
Simon

Not to mention those of us who signed on to this endeavour:
Blood Wake
windhound

Warlords aided:
Attack Me!!! (#210)
meh, idunno (#223)
LT. Bear (#235)
Sparta (#232)
Tsarmina (#212)
OakenShield (#240)
Jamnizzle (#222)
Vattys (#237)
cold stone (#218)
Redfang (#216)
Alazar's Massive Hordes (#243)
mokkan, dieri, nutty and marak

EVERYONE has contributed to this and made the place buzz!

In-game help:
I have sent messages to these players offering my services:
PooCaca (#315)
Killa King (#321)

triop (#319)
Gormand Slayer of Ukrathir (#318)

And I know many others of you have, too. Please post so we can keep record of everything we've accomplished.

This really is massive, and RWL has doubled its numbers since the League has come into existence. If you have further ideas, put them out there, every little bit helps.
Congratulations on all your hard work, and I hope we can keep it up!

That was the most fun I've had on RWL in a while. I am usually a turbo player, but that little run made me see why reg was the more important server. I will miss holby's tyrannical leadership.

On a side note that probably only me and holby will find amusing, he actually payed me back the several hundred billion i donated as part of League's early rise to power. It was something of a standing joke between us, but I never thought he was serious about it; apparently he was :P I look forward to similar stunts in the future.

Good fight to all of the competition. Was any of the clan forum info saved before we disbanded?

I have all of our forum saved as a Word doc. Copy and paste, copy and paste... I'll send it over MSN if you like. Same goes for anyone interested, as long as the rest of the League has no objection to sharing their innermost clan-thoughts ;)

no complaints here.  might just post the thing in Spa

No objections, I don't think I said anything too horrible.

Aww, it's sad to see the League go. The past few months on regular server have been a blast.
I can personally say that we accomplished great things. We boosted both game and forum activity tremendously, and we worked so well together that I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I stand proud as a former League member, and I had fun working with each and every one of my clanmates. Holby was an exceptionally brilliant leader, and I feel honoured to have played beside him. Even though Holbs and I had our differences in the past, I can now call him a true friend.
Good job guys, we accomplished our goal; the League saved RWL.

Temporarily we did, but activity is already dropping off again. What will the next thing be?
