*raises hand*

Yeah, I'd much rather be somewhere else, doing something else. Like be in Argentina, studying spanish and playing my guitar. But noooo, I couldn't think of that in time, so I'm stuck here instead.

i can't wait for college. I'm so sick of this tiny dead end town, i want to get out and start enjoying life 17 years too late...

For me, right now, college is pretty much the opposite of enjoying life.

I'm in a gap year. I graduated highschool last year, I'm working this year to save money, and next year I go to University.
I'm going to be living in a flat with a friend in Adelaide, which is 280 miles from where I live now. I'll find it hard studying again, I'm sure, but I'm looking forward to the living on my own thing.

Hate isnt a good word for my feelings about college
ready to be done is better
I want out..  but with a degree
I know a few people who left without a degree..  one is working at mc donalds and going to a community college

So boring? Odd... I would expect complaints of horrible workloads, hellish hours and the like, but boredom? I almost wish I had that problem... Boredom is easily solved. The same cannot be said for my Calc homework, physics quiz and programming assignment(s). Let alone the miscalculation stuff needed to keep myself and my equipment working. You know, cooking, laundry,  tracking down a luthier in the middle of Central Coast, etc.

Even with all that, I am still rather enjoying college. I like my classes, even with all the work. I like the fact that I am learning interesting and useful information and techniques. I like that I can discuss the life of Jacqueline du Pre with my section mates in symphony or share UNIX command line tricks in my CPE/CSC class. I like the fact there is almost always something of going on about campus, be it anything from a LUG meeting to a concert. I like our great performance  hall and my CSC department UNIX account. I like the independence that comes from being far from home, though there is plenty I miss about it. I'll even go so far and say that I do like the hard work and hellish hours. In short, I do like college, though I do very much intend to get a science or engineering degree out of it.

My problems come partially from the fact that I signed up for art classes, thinking I'd be a Studio Art major, only to discover that I really like music better. I noticed this when I kept retreating to my guitar to get away from the art. That and driving, but that's a little more expensive. And I'm paranoid now.

I went for a drive last night. I was the only one at the light, it turned green, and I put my foot down. The next light turns green and there are two cars in the left lane going about 10mph. I'm going 50. The last car in line, a silver Volvo, decides he wants to change lanes, just as I'm about to pass him. This is when I discovered my ABS truely does not work. I looked up all four tires and slid past him in the brake down lane (what is it with me and break down lanes?). He noticed I was there just as I was coming even with the back of his front door.

And on the way home about 15 minutes later, two deer run out in front of me.

Yay.

I don't hate college, but there certain classes that I absolutely detest. Calc 2 for example. That class is pure hell. I also dislike French rather intensely. However, for the most part, I've enjoyed my college experience. Whatever it is though, it certainly is never boring. Except in history, because I already know all the subject material in the class I'm being forced to take. I wanted to take a 300 level class, but NOOOO, I have to take the class that's a prerequisite first, that no one even TOLD me was a prereq. So I'm stuck taking American History 102. We just had a test. I got a 98%, and I didn't even study. Though I did have to argue myself into a 98%, originally it was a 95%, cause the professor asked a BS question. I called him on it and he gave it too me.

Eh, sounds like you got a good teacher then Volkov.  If he admitted making a mistake that's good, and giving the points back was better
There are some professors who will not admit their mistake, nor will they give any points back.  That's their perogative I guess

And yeah...  if you're taking classes that arnt interesting and/or too easy it makes sence you'd be bord...  be sure you like what you're doing, as the main point of going to college is gain the skills for a job  :-P
Though, some statistic somewhere said that 40 odd percent of working adults with degrees are not working in the field they graduated in...  I may look it up later

edit:  Main point of going to collge is job, not the only one
