BETA Testers

We've been in the beginning process of a new expansion to RWL for some time now (it can be slow going)

We currently have a tester server up where new features and game idea's are being tested.

But BETA Testers are going to be needed in order truly see how things are coming along.

So this once in a lifetime offer is being made. Anyone who would like to be a BETA tester can be one, pending you get 3 people to join RWL (either on reg or turbo)! Once you get 3 friends to join, contact me and get them to in game mail me to say that you were the one who got them to join.

Keep in mind that we are VERY good at finding multiple accounts, anyone who gets caught with a multiple account will be disqualified from the BETA testing opportunity and of course the accounts will be disabled according to the usual set rules.

How exciting is this! You'll get to be a part of the process that will change the face of this game for ever! You'll be the first to test out the new features that will one day make RWL one of the best games out there!

Eh? I'm not going to "pay" or jump through hoops to be a beta tester. Quite frankly, I'd think you'd be offering rewards for BETA testers, to get people to do it, rather then putting up requirements.

Now, I'd certainly be glad to test out whatever. And if I have friends who want a new promi, I might just recommend they come over here. But... am I going to bug them into playing here, just so I can help you BETA test? Nah.

Answering your own questions is a bad habit to get into. Should you be working on different ways of phrasing your ideas? Yes...

aaaanyways, heh. The opportunity to see new features before they come out is actually quite exciting. Anyone who's excited about the game, and really wants to see where it's going (and help shape where it's going!) would be quite excited about this venture.

As for "bugging" your friends to play RWL. I don't think there's anything evil about a promotion. Text-based games don't get nearly as much attention as i believe they deserve, especially promisance games (open source means free games, and free games don't usually have an advertising budget).

No, nothing wrong with promotion, none whatsoever. It's just that I'd feel bad trying to get people to play so I could get a BETA testing thing... If I don't think of mentioning RWL outside of the BETA testing thing, mentioning it so I could test seems kinda low.

And I am excited, kinda. Just that I don't know that many people who'd like to play RWL... and, again, I'd feel bad for steering them to RWL just because of this. :P

PA, if you want people to BETA test, then ask. Don't put up requirements. Sure it's exciting to see the new stuff, but we are eventually going to see it anyway. You should just invite the whole game to come beta test. The more there are, the more stuff that will get caught. When the new game is up, just send out a mass e-mail announcing that fact to all past and present members, and blitz other promi sites with adverts. That should be plenty to attract new members.


As for myself, count me out, I've already beta tested quite a bit in my life, and I'm not bugging my friends who have already said no to RWL just to do it again.

I'd love to help beta test...but I don't even visit enough sites to get three people interested in this. Aside from that, I personally think advertising should wait until the new version comes out; right now, we'd probably be losing more people than gaining (especially if those people are familiar with Promi already).

At any rate, I definitely agree with the above opinions; we shouldn't have to jump through hoops so that we get the opportunity to do something helpful.

id gladly beta test, but i dont know if i can get three people to join. maybe one or two, but do you think someone who plays text based games all day really has more than two friends...lol but seriously, i dont think i could even get one person to join.
