You kind of have that backwards; they are role-models because of their appearance and/or who they are. But they shouldn't be role models based on their actions. Anyone can be a role model, it just depends on the person's perspective who is looking up to the person that they view as a role model.

I know that's how Hollywood is sometimes, and it really annoys me. If you are gonna claim historical accuracy, there had better be historical accuracy, in my opinion at least. You can make a plenty exciting movie and still be historically accurate. Saving Private Ryan, Letters from Iwo Jima, and Flags of our Fathers were all great movies, (they won Oscars for God's sake) and THEY managed to be reasonably historically accurate.

Oscars are usually given out for quality, however, occasionally politically motivated Oscars are awarded. "Brokeback Mountain" and "An Inconvenient Truth" are examples of political Oscars. However, many did think Brokeback was a pretty good film.

Actually, our world is screwed up because most of our politicians are incompetent retards elected by other incompetent retards. If we actually had those capable of rational thought as our leaders, I think the world would have a lot less issues. Of course, if we did that, well, I don't think we be exactly the same species.

And Volkov, I don't think our politicians are completely incompetent or idiots, it's most likely that they're just corrupt. They look out for number one, and when they feel like it, they decide to do their job. The only way I government can be perfect is for a person to make millions of dollars, buy their own island, and declare them self an independent government.
