Number of Computers

I just brought one more computer into my little group, which now includes:

- IBM Netfinity 5600 server (main computer, rarely gets turned off)
- IBM Thinkpad T-42 (games and travel)
- IBM Thinkpad old P1 (never gets turned on.  no usb, no cd-rw, no ethernet, no reliable way of getting data off other than infared..  which is slow and finniky)
- Hyundai laptop.  ancient in computer terms.  486 processer (gets turned on when I am utterly bord, its got wheel of fortune, cosmo's cosmic adventure, mathblaster, a few other ancient dos games + monochome lcd)
and now
- HP Pavillion PIII, now in an old RCA VCR shell (psu and cdrw drive sits ontop, tight fit as it was) because I couldnt justify bringing the giant thing into my room.  Was my mum's old computer, but she was getting tired of seeing it sit around after she got a new one and I wouldnt let her throw it out. 

so, a total of 5 now
two actually get constant use, the VCR-Comp will eventually get some use, but it will need a new hdd first.

Somekind of desktop in the garage.
6.2Ghz desktop in the library.
1.8Ghz desktop in my room (the one i use the most)
1.0Ghz desktop in my room (runs Fedora Core 4? used mostly for keeping track of my finances.)

To my name i have only 2. One more on the way, but i'll be getting rid of my laptop at the same time. If i make enough money this summer and don't spend it all on a car/partying, then i'll buy a server. I think 2 up to date computers are good enough though.

had it since windows '98 first came out and just upgraded it as time went by
(by upgrading, I mean putting other not quite as old parts)

heres the history of my comp

originally purchased:
P2 350MHz (that was smokin fast back then)
Asus P2 Mobo
64Mb PC100 Ram
Intel 8Mb GPU
8Gig 5400RPM HD

first upgrade was a HP 16X CD-R CD-RW
then another 128Mb of PC100
then it was a new 350 watt power supply
then, years later, another 8gig HD (outta an Xbox), swapped the ram for 384Mb of PC133, switched to Win XP Pro
and finnally got a 10/100 NIC (was running just a 10Mbs one till then)
then it was a Savage Stealth 3 32Mb GPU
then, I swapped the motherboard for an MSI KT3, and the processor for an AMD 2100+ (with a Volcano 11), put in 512Mb of PC2700 and a GeForce 4600Ti and a 40Gig 5400RPM HD
I then added a 250Gig 7200 HD
and most recently, a DVD writer

next will prolly be a case, since my comp no longer fits in my 9 year old case

There's my old laptop, and me and my parents just went out yesterday and bought a new laptop for me. So that's two. And I have a desktop monitor.

Right now, in my house, we have a total of 6 active computers.

I have Vista now....it's gonna take a while to get used to it. =/ Too flashy.

...you can turn off aero shael, it'll look more or less like XP
some flash is nice, but when it gets in the way I dislike it muchly.  havnt had a chance to use vista yet, so I donno

My gaming machine
My other gaming machine that mom thinks is pretty and in turn uses
My old games gaming machine (lol)
Server-in-training (Ok so im building it...)
2 "Part Boxes" that I repair things with (cannibalization ftw!)

Plus parts for one on the way from O Canada.

Then i have 3 SFF just sitting around, as well as a closet full of parts.

So... 11 in total running
Probably 20 or more in terms of parts.

(Ultimate goal is to start my own business, btw, hence the computer part gluttony.)
