might be as close as you get ashy ;)

on a semi-random, semi-related note the car I drove before I bought my truck was a 1991 chevy beuville (sp) full sized van, currently pushing 300,000 miles.  Thing is still running great, 350 V8 still pulling strong.  Kinda funny though, it has never broken down on me (and I used it as my primary transportation to get to my job for a couple summers).  Only problem I ever had was the gas meter is funny, showed a 1/4 of a tank left and it ran out of gas while I was going 70 on the highway.  However, it seems to break about every third time my mom drives it.  Needless to say they're finally looking at replacing her = (

the '75 and '76 Nova's (and all American Cars) had very low compression engines to try and get by the new emmisions laws of that time.
So, in '75 and '76, the Chev 350 V8 was only rated at 140HP (was running about a 6:1 compression ratio)
this is fixed by switching the heads for 202 heads. That will dramatically boost the compression. The bolt on a decent intake and a big 4 bbl with a decent exhaust system, and you'll be pushing some decent power. Course if I was going through the trouble of replacing the heads, I'd switch out the cam, ditributor and timing set while I was at it. Then you'd be pushing serious HP.

As for condition of my car
it's pushing 178000km (warrenty expired 78000km ago)
just replaced one wheel bearing and now another is starting to go, and I suspect a CV joint as being about to go aswell.

my old car (the one I got into trouble for speeding too much in) was an '86 Olds Cutlass Supreme w/ a 305 V8 (and a lot of bolt-on upgrades) It had 335000km on it when I sold it and was just starting to use a little oil (335000km of drag racing, trailer towing and even a little off roading) Engine was original (other then the bolt-ons) and was never rebuilt. It gave me no troubles. And the kicker, it was a targetmaster 305"H", which everyone told me was the crappiest, most unreliable engine ever. I think they were very grosely misinformed.

...or just throw in a new, more modern engine, assuming there wasnt an attempt to keep the car all original
my mom has a friend who had somone in arizona (?) put a small caddie V8 into his fiero, solved all the engine issues it was having.  really pretty car...

sometimes you just get lucky.  apparently the engine in my little truck is supposed to burn and/or leak oil somthin' aweful.  not a drip anywhere and no drop in the level between changes.  so far so good.
also probably has somthin to do with the care and how abused the engine was..  my truck was all women drivers before me and it was always serviced on time (just from observation women drivers are less likely to run the crud out of an engine and more likely to be kinder to it) (I've also got all the documentation..  they paid some mechanic 25 bucks (just 'labor'!) to put on new windshield wipers = (  and were generally overcharged for everything..  but again, they had everything done proper)

In that case, if money is no concern, I'd recomend an LS7. LS6 is good aswell and alot cheaper, but has over 100 less HP and the LS7 is perfectly balanced from the factory, so it is very easy to sup up ( because it's balanced, the power band can be shifted to very high RPM's)

Yes, very nice truck. Better if it were black though.

Black can be a fun color for a car, but it sucks in practicality.  I gets horribly hot in the summer, shows Every Single Scratch, and can be neigh invisible in the dark / dim light.  My mom has a black chevy van that was my primary car for three years..  and the ac is basically dead.  its hard to imagine how much heat that rolling oven can make.

I like that version of the two tone, but I dont like some other types.  Red and white is rather nice.
I just saw one of those trucks the other day coming home, pretty red.

I dont like sidesteps in most trucks, they just dont look as good.  most of them dont come flush with the cab, and the fleetside gives you more room in the bed

I've thought of this, and it makes me wonder why I want to paint my bike flat black.

I don't have much trouble with heat in my truck. I just roll all the windows down and drive fast.

I put no effort into making my truck look good. Eventually enough dirt builds up that it looks good anyways.
