For about the last 3 months our site seems to have been put on some lists for Internet advertisers.  They have been making accounts and then posting advertisements from drug and porno sites to places to by furniture.  So far, your friendly Mods and Admins have been keeping a close watch and removing them and banning the IPs of the computerized programs invading us. Please no one ever go to their links because bad things could happen to your computer going to sites with no morals.  Also we request your assistance in helping us remove them as fast as possible.

If you see one: Either notify a member of the staff if you have their IM address or click the link on the post that says ?Report to modulator? so emails will be sent to the staff that the site needs our attention.  We thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

ok, cool i was gonna ask you what to do because i saw him post it and then i went and told them that was against the rules, but now i know what to do!

this seems a good time to say:

if you do not already have antivirus, please download avg
if you do not already have an adware scanner, please download Ad-Aware
if you do not already have a spyware scanner / startup list editor, please download Spybot
if you do not have a decent browser (still using IE) please go get firefox
if your system is not fully uptodate, go to ms update
edit:  if your system does not already have a good firewall [not just windows firewall] go get Zonealarm

those are my sugguested programs, all are free for personal use.
the internet is full of bad crud, you dont nessisarily have to go to bad sites to get infected.  protect your computer = )

yes, you are a great....*reads title* ah yes global moderator and you dont get enough credit for what you do thanks again windy! my comp./internet is now alot faster and its protected :wink: (how good can it get?)

eh, no problem
most of that stuff comes from download.com, which is about the safest and most useful place to get stuff from.  its also a 'one stop shop' if you know what you're looking for
I know that list from experience and many other people recomending them to me

window's firewall that got installed with sp2 is better than nothin, but not great

I run Fedora (redhat) Linux on my server and Ubuntu Linux on my laptop(with a windows partition on my lappy for dreamweaver and photoshop), so for the most part I dont have to worry as much.  If you like to toy with things linux is great.  if you want something that just works stick with windows.  I love Fedora/Ubuntu, but somtimes they make me beat my head against the wall = D

We've been talking about getting captcha, which works the same way, I think. We haven't worried too much about getting it lately because the spam has been slowing down since we enabled email verification.

if an admin would please atleast turn on the basic...

the biggest problem is what I'm doin' right now, posting without being logged in.  this needs to be fixxed.

It says that option comes only with version 1.1, and this board is 1.0. Is there a way to upgrade?

I disabled my old smf so I nolonger have a refrence
