Your Staff, always working to better serve you, has made some changes in the forum as a test to see if you like them. As the interests of some members are changing, we feel that they should have a place to talk to their long time friends, and new people, about things current in their lifes. Here are the changes.

General Discussion will be for any talk concerning the games, your character, or the forum. Give your birthday wishes, hello and good-bys, general talk concerning all games, etc ?

Real Life is separated into sub categories. Update us on what you are doing, chat about what is going on in your life, ask how other people handled things, give your opinions on subjects.

The sub-categories under Real Life are:

Ultra-Moderated Discussion
Announce world news events, debate issues,

Sports and Hobbies
What to you like to watch and do?

School and Education
How is school, where to you plan on going? What problems are there?

Family and Relationships
How is your family, friends or love life?

Work and Career
Got a job, want to get type of job?

Miscellaneous Other Stuff
Not sure what category your post fits in? Right here!

Let us know how this works for you. The staff has some other changes we are keeping in our hats until we have the details worked out.

Interesting change. I like it.

Hmm. Might get a bit confusing, but I'll see how it goes before I make any judgements.

It seems like a bad idea to me... RWL doesn't have the forum traffic to support active discussion in all of those subcatagories.

Of course, the game discussion area seems like a good idea. Perhaps stragity and perhaps even the server specific forums should be dumped into it?

Its actually working out quite well, and we're doing it so we can create more areas that members and prospective others would find appealing....most already find them appealing.

Bjornredtail,

I understand your thoughts, but they are based on incorrect information. We do get a lot of hits on our forum each day, We (the Admins) can see who people are even if they don?t log in by their IP. We often see old members checking the forum, but they are not in the games so have nothing to post. With the quantity of members we have checking our forum, they need an ?out of character? place to make posts. But at the same time, we don?t want to mix in character and out of character. Thus we now have one place which is strictly out of character. I think it is working great and will catch on even more as our older members come by and see it here.

I really don't like it. Really. But I'm just going to see how it goes...

But do we really need seperate subcatagories for stuff like "Sports and Hobbies" & "School and Education"? Topics often cross these catagoires. It does require extra effort on the part of the user to view and post topics for no real benefit. It makes work for aministrators too, as moderateing across the seperate subforums requries more effort. I really don't see what we gain for it. Since this topic was created, there are only two topics in each of the subforums. Should I really have to go through all of thsoe to read these 6 or so topics?

On the other hand, I agree that there should be a place for non-game discussion. So the game specific and non-game general discussion makes sence, and is a good idea. I just don't think that haveing the subforums in the general disscussion area is all that great of an idea.
