A 94th minute penalty my Roma captain Francesco Totti doomed Australia to defeat. Lucas Neill missed a tackle but did not make contact with Fabio Grosso, he appeared to take a dive over Neill. Italy were reduced to ten men in the 51st minute when Marco Materazzi recieved a harsh red card, which should have been a yellow card because he was not the last man back for Italy. Italy became the first team to score while being a man down in 22 World Cup matches, since Paraguay scored twice over Slovenia while being a man down in 2002.

Italy face the winner of today's match between Switzerland and Ukraine.

My opinion: the penalty was a crap call, Neill was on the ground and not moving at all when Grosso purposely stumbled over his body to earn the penalty. Another instance of poor refereeing.
Glory, Glory, Man United!
