Two Mexicans managed to find the net in the opening 10 minutes, but one of them scored on the wrong end. Defender and captain Rafael Marquez scored from a free kick in the opening minutes, quickly followed by a Jared Borgetti own goal from a Juan Roman Riquelme corner kick to set things level. The opening minutes of the match foretold of a high scoring thriller, but no goals were scored until Maxi Rodriguez scored what proved to be the game winner in the 98th minute from about 20 yards on a left footed volley.

Argentina are set to face hosts Germany next Friday.

I don't really care for Germany, if they lose maybe Klinsmann could get fired and then take Arena's job... wishful thinking but Arena is done on the national scene, I think.
