Graham Poll made an "inexcusable" blunder, according to FIFA president Sepp Blatter, when he booked Josip Simunic three times in last night's Australia - Croatia match. He booked him once in the first half, then later on in the second half, but failed to send him off. Finally, at the death, he issued a third yellow card and then showed the red card. Blatter could not understand why neither of Poll's assistants or the fourth official failed to pick up the error, especially when they were wired via radio headsets.
FIFA communications director Markus Siegler said: "We had a first in the history of the World Cup, unfortunately, when a player received three yellow cards - this is a little bit too much."
He admitted that, had Australia lost the game and gone out of the World Cup, they would have had grounds to request a replay.
Along with Poll, his fellow Englishman and assitant referees Philip Sharp and Glenn Turner, and the USA's fourth official Kevin Stott and fifth official Gregory Barkey can also expect to learn that their World Cup is over.

lol lots of ref blunders

Exactly. Poll is a class referee but how did he not notice Simunic's name in his book?

Larrionda is a crap referee and should be suspended, he loves pulling out the red card, he should never have sent off Pope or Mastroeni.
