one of the industry standard recording programs.

cubase, or acid (for lamo's), and of course pro tools

pro tools requires specific hardware I do not have

I like Reason 3.0 the best though
has the most user friendly interface and the sampling is incredible

and it was free

I use Reason w/ my M-Audio MIDI controller for electronic and synth sampling, I then export the loops to Cool Edit Pro 2 (also free) to add tracks with real instruments
