Troop Specialties

 Troop specialities would allow you to, beyond just the makeup of OP/DP of your troops, determine other duties for your army while they are not off attacking. This would be primarily defensive. You would manage what percent of your troops do what.

Some ideas I've had:
Leaders
Tower-Guards
Skirmish-Defenders
Police
Border Patrol

Do you think we should have these actually influence the defense in attacks? Or do you want to just have them impact like leader attacks or skirmishes? I think it would be cool if things like more police allowed you to have more output from your workers, and tower guards increased the effectiveness of your towers (how much is too much? 2x? 4x?), and border patrol gave warning, allowing a better defensive response, and more leaders made costs/losses go down or something?

Ideas? Reactions?

 I DO like the idea, because it sounds like a great way to balence the game.

However, we would have to be carefull with it. I don't think there should be any leader defenders, 'cause the game becomes far more balenced when its easier to steal and stuff, plus leader attacks are hard enough as it is. The towers idea is a good one, because it promotes the use of troops AND towers, making higher defense. the police would be a good one, but unless we balence the races and make indy strats possible, they will be unused.

the boarder patrol reminded me of an old idea i once thought about.

Consider making rats OP/DP 2/2
Then, make it so that the defending warlord's rats only have 50% defensive power. thus making it back to a 2/1 ratio.
My idea was then to make a leader spell that would raise the defensive power. However, then i reolised leaders are already too powerfull, so making if there is a way to make more troops = better defensive power, then that might help. Although keep in mind, that still doesn't really work because the more troops you have, the more power to ALREADY have... so its a little confusing.

anyways, you could do the same thing with the other troops, make weasels 3/18 with 50% defensive power, make stoats 5/8, etc...

 I think that this is an excellent idea. One of the game's main weaknesses is that it is easy to break virtually anyone.

 i really liked pressgang, and I like Goldmine. I was rather disappointed to see PRessgang go. Since it's already gone, and most likely will not be brought back, might as well make the game wholly balanced (no Marten domination).

I agrees Razorcube!  :lol:  It would also make it more interesting- you won't be sure wheter you can get through or not, and when you get repeatedly mushed, you can help prevent it happening again. Good ideas!

 Did someone delete my angry and mean post about the fact that our races sucks out the (donkey) and we should balance them before we add even more useless (junk) to an already failing game? Or did I dream I wrote that?
