Yes, you held it for about a week, then stopped spamming, as I recall...  :D  Yes, that's right, you heard it here, folks, Dead Eye was once almost as bad or as bad of a spammer as Blackeyes.  Scary, eh?

I used this analogy earlier today: If someone comes to your home and deliberately breaks your TV because of a want to harm you, just because you were planning on throwing out that TV anyway does not change what the intent of the person was.

Beatles took it on his own to not only test the beg, which he could have done on his own server, but to then exploit the bug. Then destroying my property with the bug. His reasons were not to help RWL, but to degrade us.

Your analogy is flawed. The metaphorical window already had a huge smash in it from two weeks earlier. Cold air was blowing into Retto's house. He sat in his jacket wondering how it had happened and how he could fix it. Suddenly, another brick flew in (chipping off a small speck no one cared about at this point, not even the small speck), informing him how to get free windows that didn't smash so easily.

Also, Beatles can't test it on his own server:

1) Baxx install never seems to work correctly
2) The code Beatles has didn't have the functionality that gave birth to this bug.

No reason? Ok, so you insult us, pretend you know everything about the situation and act superior. Now tell me how that was supposed to receive an approving response and mark your return well, tell me how acting all hurt now makes it a different statement, and tell me why I should react any differently?
As far as I'm concerned, you are no addition to the forums. I hope your threats amount to more than blackmail.

 For those of you that don?t think what Beatles did was wrong, even if you don?t care about the wishes of Retto not to have his server hacked:

He now has everyone?s IP address.
He now has everyone?s Email Address.
He now has everyone?s true name.
He now has everyone?s log in name.

Lucky that he also did not get everyone?s Passwords.

People sign into a site trusting that their information will be kept private, as WRL always has. It is an invasion of privacy for a different person to obtain that information. Maybe some don?t care because they are on Beatles server anyways. But I am sure that some people would rather that information not fall into the hands of a hacker.

 But, beacuse Beatles hacked the server now, that information doesn't fall into more sinister hands. I personally trust Beatles with my IP and other information more than Retto. Addationally, I find it highly unlikely he did a select * from reg_players, and copy away all the information for later use, as someone out to harm the game and it's players would do. Note that doesn't excuse the hacking completely in my mind, not even when combined with Retto's ongoing blackballing effort. But, all of these factors do reduce the offence to the point that it should just be forgiven, much the the way the first person who hacked RWL was treated.

 You missed the point. Not everyone thinks that Beatles is not the more sinsiter hands, nor would want him to have that information. Further, his actions do show an intent to harm the game. MY IP and MY email are MY property, as are other peoples THIER property. Just becasue your friend would not use YOUR information in a wrongfull way, does not mean that other people feel as you. Frankly, if one person feels it is wrong, then it is wrong.

 I feel that Retto's actions as administrator are wrong. By your logic, they are as a fact, wrong. I'm a former player here, I'm still a forumgoer here. I still have a stake in what happens here, and my information is still in the old Database... So, what's the difference?

Also, I very much doubt that Beatles took a copy of this information. You have presented no evidance that he did, or that he would have any reason to do so, aside from the fact that he had access to it... Which, technically speaking, any visitor to this site in the last year would have access to the same information, as the same exploit was around back then and could have been used to gain access.

Your IP adress is not your properity. It is properity of the ARIN, who in turn has rented it out to your ISP. Unless you own your own mail server, and domain, I'll say the same about your e-mail.

You failed to adress the point that if this had not happened, this exploit would still exist, and other unauthroized parties could still gain access to the information, possably without the administration's knowlage, or even a log of the access being made. Would you rather the access to this information be in the hands of one most likely benign person, or in the hands of an unlimited number of unknowns.

I have no reason to believe that Beatles did not copy the information.

My IP, MY name, and MY email is my personal property. As is my Social Security number. Yes, it is issued by others, but I have a right as to who has that information.

The difference is that when you joined RWL, you voluntarily gave that information to Retto. I, and 50 other people, have not voluntarily given that information to Beatles.

Just because someone else could have broken into my home does not excuse the actions of the one that did.

You simply can not talk for the 50 people that he has violated.

 Unlike name and SSN, IP adresses are issued from folks like the ARIN to ISPs and the like, who let their custamers use them as part of a wider service. What about in the case of a dnymatic IP adress, like that common to Dial-up accounts, where a new IP adress is used for each session? What about in the case of a proxy server?

In the case of "your" e-mail... What if your ISP sells it's domain, and someone creates an adress with the same username over at the new location of the domain. What happens to "Your" e-mail adress? It is now properity of someone else, without your consent.

Say I wonder by rovl.org via a typo. The server logs my IP adress. How is this a volentairy excange of information? I never wanted to go that sever, yet my IP adress was still loged, along with my browser, OS, Screen resoluation, etc.

Although it doesn't excuse the other person's actions completely, it pervents what would much greater harm to the users in the form of redistrabuation to an unlimited number of unknown parties. In this way, Beatles actions prevented far greater harm from occuring to the users data.

I have a prefectly good reason to belive Beatles did not copy the information: He has no use for it!
