Simplest thing to do would be to slightly increase turns on regular.

Morzan

I know I can only get on every 3 to 4 days, and if you guys up turns my whole plans get screwed over. I am a busy person, I only have time to get on every 3-4 days.

If people want to do this, then I will organize different people writing different parts of the game in an easy to read guide. One that tells all the things each building does and each part of the game in an easy to read way. Then we will have several emperors read it and make changes, then give it to Cal to fix it. Then what people write, in detail, about different strats that will be linked. Then a person can fully reference what they want to do. I know that the Help is much better then it used to be, but for a new person it is hard to get all the information. So they could read what buildings do, then click on strats that tell how many of each to build and why. Then click on attacking methods and decide how to use the armies they have, etc.

Agreed we have only a few new people per week. Retto is morally against sending out a newsletter, I don?t agree but understand his reasons. We would not want to randomly send mail out to people. But if we all looked through the forum names and picked out people that we used to know and let them know about the newer game, many will try it again.

Let us say you are right that only one new person comes per week. ? of them leave because they don?t understand enough to get out of protection, then when they do, they are wiped out and don?t know how to fix it.  This way we will keep more of the new people. The new people stopping by will most likely stay when they know what they are doing in a more friendly to use game. Then someday they will move to the other games.

P.S. I never said this idea was written in stone. I asked for people to give their ideas. Lets all work together building the town of Redwall Abbey.

Just a suggestion. Changes would have to be planned around the entire community with approval of the staff before they were implemented.

I was just thinking it would be far simpler to increase turns on regular as opposed to opening another game, for reasons already mentioned by Retto, let alone additional time, effort and maitenance required in a new game.

RazorClaw

We could have a newsletter that was sent to Redall participants past and present to forward to friends and relatives for them to forward to their friends and relatives and so on. That way we don't simply send random e-mails regarded as spam.

Morzan

I think a newsletter would be a good idea, or at least a news thing in the home page, instead of what we have. Not just attacks, but everything. Like a newspapper. You could have major attacks, jumps in networth, wars, battles, upgrades in the game, upcoming events, and anything else. And it WOULD NOT be like joke topics like Ad's "news group" had. No fake reports or anything. I am news that happened in game. I just finished my summer journalism class, took 4 writing classes last year, have a few more lined up this year, and not to mention I play the game. And it would be without opions. Though I am leader of Morzan, I would not be like "And Forsworn is being abused by evil Loren and should gain help because Loren is evil and bad and should die and are being unfair"(I don't really believe that) but the newsletter would be very suttle and just stating the facts. I mean if I just sent my weekly thing once a week to Retto he could just put it up. Thats just a suggestion, and if you really wanted me to do it, I would need some one to do it for Turbo and for Commanders, since I play only regular. And I could help on the guide too. I don't agree with a new game, but a new guide definatly, and a news thing.

Fake news group that you address with scorn. Pah! I squirt old mustard onto the shirt of your scorn and bliss! We were a noble line of people bringing news that was important to the RWL community. So foo and begone, fink-rat!

Morzan

I was part of that newsgroup my friend. Most of the stuff was about fake weather or interviews. I am talking about news!

Ever been hit across the jaw with an otter?s tail? Trust me it is not fun. Retto will not let this server generate spam mail. No admin will touch the ?send newsletter button.? Discussion of a newsletter is not productive here. How else can we generate people?

 RazorClaw, that wasn't really necessary.

I'd help with Wolf's idea for a Guide, if others would like one to be started.

The only problem with changing the turn rate of Reg is that it really is the most original RWL.  We're talking about getting old players back, but we want to get rid of the old server that they used to play.  I think that a 4th server would be good, if Retto is willing to try it.  And as said, if Reg becomes obsolete, the same amount or more people will still be playing RWL and the Middle Server, so it's a sacrifice we can make.

But, if skilled players play on the Middle Server, which some want to be for new players, then it's not really the best place for newbies.  Still, if we distinguish a new server as one for new players, it'll probably stay that way.

Asking people to join (friends and such), a banner exchange (suck it up those who said they would leave if there was advertising), paid ads (how we would generate revenue I don't know, and I wouldn't expect Retto to pay for it so perhaps ads here and/or user donations)...affiliates (QMT, and other prom games.. we link them they link us (which is similar to a banner exchange but not completely because I think of banner exchanges as a centralized thing that people join... and this would be done by asking those people... but yeah) ) Apply to some other search engines? I don't know how many the site is on...

Hmm, Retto can have his opinion on the rest, but I think Search Engines are a good way to get new people.  There are millions of Redwall fans out there, and if they ever look up "Redwall Game" or "Redwall Forum" or just "Redwall" on Google or whatever, they could reach us.  I myself found this place through connections of sites I found on Google.

Which is why I think affiliates would be good as well. If both were done it is even better.

A while back I suggested that the attack limit be completely done away with for a server in Reg to see what happens.  Nothing ever came of that, (people were evenly divided for and against trying it out), but I'd like to suggest the idea again, with one major change:  That is, you have a CHOICE as to whether you want to be a peaceful or violent warlord.  When you're about to come out of protection, you can decide whether you want to be a peaceful warlord, which means that you have a 5 attack limit--warlords cannot attack you more than 5 times, and you cannot attack other warlords more than 5 times.  Or you can choose to be a violent warlord, which means no attack limits across the board.
