I've had some file compatibility errors. Fonts being different and all... They are almost always worse going the other way... From OOo to word than vice versa.

Oh, I just imported my windows and mac fonts to linux.
Helvetica is win.
I've got a zip with some of the more common fonts in it if you'd like. Places like http://dafont.com are good places to find fonts as well

I do wish one of my professors would use pdfs more, occasionally one of his .docs will show weird, but if I print it it looks fine.

Also, I've heard that the mac version of word doesn't talk well with the windows version of word. Seems stupid, but funny if true... Not even Microsoft can get its programs to work together

I had a look at it, it looks pretty good considering it's free but word 07 looks better in my opinion, I want to see what's it's really like on the desktop but my dad wouldn't let me download it...

I do alot of work on wp's and though it only happened twice, having word crash when nearily done an assignment that I haven't saved yet, that was enough.

no problems with openoffice. and it loads a hellof alot faster too

Down loaded openoffice, really good, sill like 07 though, it crahed once I had to shut it down but when it turned back on it recovered the file :)

Meh... I have mixed feelings on OO.o... Sure it's free (as in freedom and beer) and cross platform (M$ word on my machine?) and reads and writes ODF, but it's not THAT MUCH better than M$ office in my view. Odd, I know, as I am quite the Free Software Evangelist.
