I know for a fact Shrimp & Hotroot soup is in there.

Excellent.

Also I've been in the same clan since I joined RWL. Even if it's been deleted and restarted a few times it still had the same people and now I'm the only one left lol. *waves little EOTP flag*

*Sorry for the late arrival, but here is one of many Redwall recipes I'll post. If anyone remembers any from the books that they want posted,pm me and i'll put it up.  All these recipes come from Brian Jaques' "The Redwall Cookbook"

Hotroot Soup

You'll need:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large onion
2 medium leeks, washed and chopped
1 1/2 cups vegetable stock (or 1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 cube vegetable  bouillon)
3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon curry powder or chili powder, enough to taste
salt and pepper to taste
8 ounces peeled cooked shrimp or prawns
1 cup milk

Directions:
1. In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. add the onion and leeks and cook, stirring until soft, about 5 min. (do not let the vegetables brown)
2. Add the vegetable stock, potatoes, curry or chili, and salt and pepper. Cover and simmer until the potatoes are very soft, about 15-20 minutes
3. Add the shrimp and milk and gently heat. Serve with crusty bread.

Though you should tell me what other recipes are in there, I might like some. I do more cooking now that I don't live at home and also have a kitchen. Although TBH I mostly make a lot of eggs, or bake different kinds of cookies.

Oh yea, I forgot I made that thread.I always thought there wasn't enough spice in the recipe though. When I read about the soup in the books, I always thought the otters liked it hotter. Or maybe that was the shrews....

If you do a lot with eggs, you can always make your own custard or crepes...both use a good number of eggs and are delicious.

If it's not spicy enough I might add more chili powder then. I'll give it a taste and see.

Also making custard sounds really good. Maybe I'll do that this weekend.

Gonna try the soup tonight though. My roommate and I were going to the store today so I can pick some stuff up I'm missing. It's a good thing we stole those whole raw potatoes from the dining hall cuz now I dont have to buy them.

Otters do like it hotter. I have to agree it's not terribly spicy. It's got a little kick though. I might experiment a little if I make it again but for a first time this is pretty good.

I made Hotroot Soup, and also October Ale from the other recipe you posted. I can't buy ginger beer so I had to do it with Ginger Ale. Overall, a good dinner.

I think the grape flavor overpowers the ginger ale flavor a little bit though.

Why can't you buy Ginger Beer? If there is a World Market or Trader Joes or some other whole food-type store they should have it.

I'm not old enough to purchase alcohol. Unless it's not real beer?

Nope. Just like Ginger Ale isn't Ale ;)

Ginger Beer has much more of a ginger taste than ginger ale. In fact, it makes ginger ale taste like 7Up comparatively. Ginger beer is typically sold in singles or 6packs, always glass bottles (or at least I have never seen it in cans)

I highly recommend finding some, but like I said early, you might have to go to more of an upscale or specialty grocery store to find it.

I see. Next time I do a grocery run I'll go look for it. I'm pretty sure there's a World Market nearby. Not sure about Trader Joes.

Taking a tour of the Tampa Convention Center today. I'm kind of excited?

Although I arrived before my professor and the rest of the class so that's stressing me out a bit.
