nah, I was reffering to when the animal is alive..  you can skin a carrot when it's 'alive' and it wouldnt know the difference, but if you skin a cow when it's alive it will certainly know the difference..

Question: Are carrots self-aware? Are cows self-aware?

On the subject of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease), I talked to my dad a few minutes ago and he said that you would have to cook the meat at such a high temperature and for so long that it would incinerate the meat before denaturing the proteins. Of course, if you don't eat meat around the spinal cord or the brain, you don't have to worry about it. It's rather a dangerous thing to eat ground beef though, not knowing exactly what parts have been used to make it.
