Not as much you, I meant the other half of Mr. Trogdor.

*scratches head*  As if being completely drained isn't enough!  I come on the forums and find this at the top of Turbo, and decide to take a look.  Now, after just waking up from a very good nap, I tried to concentrate on the computer screen.  Who is this Burninate fellow?  He seems to make some sense in his posts, and I noticed a little change in Wolf Bite's grammar.  Why can't people be content with who they are?  *walks away*

*turns around* And what in the world is a philanthropist?

The Lady Shael

A philanthropist is a benevolent person (like me) who donates their money and stuff to good causes and all that.

I hope none of you are like the blonde in my AP class who did not know the difference between Democrats and Republicans, thought everyone should just be philanthropists instead, and then asked which party Bush was in. Seriously, I couldn't stop rolling my eyes...

Just because people aren't american or just because they weren't raised in american society, doesn't mean they're stupid. Not knowing american politics wouldn't make anyone stupid, its just because they are uninformed when it comes to things in your society.

The Lady Shael

Yes, but the fact that it was an Advanced Placement social studies class, and the school I go to is very selective about their students is what really gets me.

They obviously weren't that selective, were they?

On that note, how many cents have you given to charities...? At what point can you call yourself a philanthropist? ("Well no I actually haven't, but I'd give them all my money and starve to death if I could... why not now? Well you know... well I would.")

When I was in APUSH, we had some very odd class discussions:
- one hour on "what is a hermaphrodite?'
- an intense half-hour debate on the difference between a "homeless person" and a "hobo"
- the use of insect parts and dead rats in everyday food items (did you know that the legal limit on the number of rats in 5 gallons of Coke is 2 rats? Eww!)
- President Jackson and his alcoholism

The Lady Shael

*laughs* Man, it's so easy to get off-topic in some of my classes. My APUSH teacher is pretty good at realizing when we're off track pretty soon, but that didn't stop us from having really weird conversations.

It's my English and Spanish teacher that are so easy to get off track. In English, we discussed for about ten minutes whether the mouse that Lennie killed in Of Mice and Men had a crutch for a broken leg. And in Spanish, heh, my teacher just loves to talk her travels to Spain and France and Japan and all that. We just mention some little thing or ask a question that sorta hints on it, and she's off.

My Spanish II teacher is from Peru, so she's not all there in her English.  It's really funny to hear her trying to tell the class what to do but she messes up.  For some weird reason she likes to talk about Columbia...

Sonoras

 Columbia?

It's also pretty easy to get off-topic in the forums as well. :)

At least we have fun!

In my AP Physics class, we avoided doing ANY work by simply mentioning a movie to the teacher. He would then spend at least 45 minutes telling us all of the impossibilities in the movie, and giving us visual aides, and having us copy down the formulas for why it was wrong. He would, of course, never make us DO anything with this info later, so it was great fun.

For example, in old westerns, you know how the guys who get shot on top of buildings and stuff always fall forward over the railing etc? That's impossible.
Or in Independance Day... if a ship got that close to the earth, gravity would be affected, and the ship would probably crash into the surface of the Earth within moments of entering our gravitational fields.
