If someone died for you? Would you care?

I would happy do so, but I do not wish to change name and I can't start a new name because it is against the rule.

Maybe I could've dropped land but don't forget, I've been playing peaceful for almost ever since the game started, I have to re-learn also if I was to drop land and all of a sudden get attacked I could of easily been killed. I didn't come out fighting with full turns and lots of troops. The moment I said I was becoming warlike was the moment I started warlike. I didn't plan this for like days before. It was there and then. Maybe if I did plan it, then I would of thought about dropping land but I didn't, I just made my desision on the spot.

Shael admitted you were the next in line for mod, and telling people to "Shut-up" is not a good example for the forum community. In a similar case, a mod told another off for saying those same words. If I'm correct, this is the second time you have done so on this topic.

If Ad becoming 'warlike' was absoulutely nothing, then it does not qualify as a topic, nor does it have a point. Quick, move to spa room before something terrible happens!

Again, not a big deal?

As I repeat once more, Ad wouldn't have been anywhere had he started off "warlike" and done the right thing. He had an advantage from his former position.
If Ad returns once more as a "peaceful player" I will be the first to openly hit him. If he becomes peaceful once more, it is because he can't cope with the real players, those that battle it out for a chance to say they made it in the top ten. And that meant a heap to me in my first few months of playing.

Ad was a role-model for all of us, he triggered many players to be nicer, and not just IG. It appears he doesn't stand for anything now that he has gone warlike, and I have lost all respect for him as a player. Were all his actions as a peaceful player false, was it a disguise? I can not believe you all support him so strongly!
I've had a great time at these forums, have made friends with just about everyone, and laughed through it all. But this is a dark moment in RWL, and for me, too. I fear much hate will come in my direction because of the truth I speak. There is favouritism on these forums, as Aus argued. No wonder this place is dying!

Hey, he actually is making sence on that one. I can't believe I didn't think of it beofre. I'm sorry Ad, but it's true.
Dark days are coming my friends....... oh yes we are in trouble....

Mikalae Gildar

Alright people.  I've been reading this topic for a bit now, and its absurdity is growing rapidly.  I believe we should keep this in mind:

ITS A GAME!!!!

Give Ad a break, okay???  Who cares if he goes and cheats and destroys everybody, which he's not going to do?!  It's not like the end of the world!  You restart your account!  I think you all need a reality check, seriously.  If this game gets people so ticked at each other over such trivial things, then maybe a few of us should rethink our priorities.  I mean, this is really really really sad that people get into such big arguments over practically nothing.  This should have no bearing on our day; to put it another way, as my dad always says, "It is no use wasting your emotional capital" (can you tell he's a banker?)

Uhhh, Holby?  You just tried to spike our arguments before we gave them, a really bad tactic to use, because one only uses the "spike" tactic if one knows that one's position is completely flawed and as firm as jello.  I mean, really, "the truth that I speak"?  For the sake o' Saint Bridget, by saying the "truth" you are basically telling us we are

1) too daft to figure out the truth
2) since we are daft, you have to give us the propagandaized version
3) since your arguments are so unsound, you spike our arguments before we make them, attempting to write us off as morons, idiots, and bigots by your "I fear much hate will come in my direction".

Throughout this, you have proved that you are:

1) Extremely obsessed will Warlords to the level that a change in the system affects your real life in negative ways
2) Extremely resistant to allow others to play the game in their own way, affirming yourself as a narrow-minded individual

I hope that I have made my point clear: this whole discussion is a waste of time, and we should let Ad do what he wants with his horde, since you can do what you want.  You, me, or anyone else is no better or higher in the ladder, and the rules apply to us all.  Thank you.

Kitty

Seem like people are missing the point here.  And for sake of argument, I stand on the wall as to the fairness of Ad?s change in stance.

Remember that Holby deleted his account from the top of the game for the fairness of the game and a want to make the game fairer to all.  So his past actions speak as to his words do now.

Holby (or anyone) has a right to state if he thinks something is fair or not.  That is far from an argument.

What if Wolf Bite had said ?everyone leave me alone for I will never attack anyone? then after getting in the ranks, massacred us all?  On turbo he is Chrush and has given his word that he is only HPR, unless he is poisoned.  I trust his word that he will not sell all that food to buy an army.  Ad made the same promise.

The difference is that Ad knows more people and knows them better then the wolf.

So Ad should have to stand to the same standards, expressly when he is liked because he stands for standards.

Now in Ad?s defense, he must have been board to death all this time and he has a right to have fun.  He is also right that he did not have full turns when he came out and other had the chance to attack him before he could do much damage.

So it is a close call as to who is right. But there is a legitimate discussion here.

Scarwake

Sorry for saying shut-up and all....But I truly don't think its that big of a deal.  I know for a fact that it wouldn't bother me if one of you were all peaceful or something and then suddenly went warlike...Its just a game, as stated before by ummm....*looks down*Mikalae.

Soooo....I'm not playing favortism, because I try to stay away from that, whether it looks it or not, but I truly do not see what the big deal is, whether you just pointed it out or not It doesn't bother me and it shouldn't bother you guys nearly as much as it is...

Strange arguments that seem to have no relativity to the original post.

Kitty have some faith in Ad...
Anyways whatever advantage he has from being a semi-admin, will weigh out to perhaps absolutely nothing.

The Lady Shael

Time to add my own bit.

I read this earlier, but I've forgotten some of the details, so I'm basing this post off of what I remember.

Four words: Give it a rest. Personally, I don't see ANY reason why you should be afraid of Ad changing his tactics. I mean, come on. It's like jumping over someone because they ate a hamburger instead of their normal vegetarian salad.

I used to follow the EO policy "Never attack a horde more than three times a day" very religiously, even months after EO disbanded. Then I gave it up. I didn't make a big deal about it, but nobody had a problem with it. (Particularly because I'd feel guilty after attacking someone too many times, and then reimburse them with much aid. Sorry, I can't attack you now, I'm on vacation.) But that's just me. Ad is different, but not by much.

I'd like to see a solid, justified, reasonable reason (whoa, reasonable reason, how about that?) about how it isn't fair for Ad to change his strategy. People do it on RWL every day, and you don't see us complaining about them, do you? So stop raising those happy ponies.

RWLers, your wish is my command...as long as it complies with the rules.

Ad never came out and said, "Hey, I'll make you all a deal- you don't attack me, and I'll be HPR."

He just always was peaceful, and people came to respect that. This, combined with his popularity on the forums, led to him being a sort of taboo player on the game.

You're right, Kitty- he was bored, and felt like trying out being warlike for a while. What's the difference between him sending all his massed food and cash to his allies (which he used to do) and using it himself? After almost a year of playing in a successful, but really boring, strat, he wants a bit of a change.

Also, when have any of you ever known Ad to be willingly and intentionally devious?

QuoteAlright people. ?I've been reading this topic for a bit now, and its absurdity is growing rapidly. ?I believe we should keep this in mind:

It is a game, I play it. This board is also for discussion about the game. I have a right to speak about the actions of players in the game, as it relates to what this board is about.

Why all the question and exclamation marks, it serves only to make what you're saying hard to read.

Who cares if Ad cheats and destroys everybody? Well, I would.
I'm sure that if this game meant anything to you, it would bother you. Everyone has their own view of what is important, and they are entitled to feel that way. You have no right to tell me that I am wrong, simply because RWL doesn't matter to you.
I will agree it is not the end of the world, but this game means something to me, and I wish it to stay a good place.

A wise person once said this to me about RWL:
"I play this game, games should be fair, if a game seems not fair, then it is duty to point it out, because the game should be fair. Thus, I have a right to say what I think is not fair".
That shows how I feel the best way: I saw something I didn't believe was right, and pointed it out.

QuoteUhhh, Holby? ?You just tried to spike our arguments before we gave them, a really bad tactic to use, because one only uses the "spike" tactic if one knows that one's position is completely flawed and as firm as jello.
Had you been around here a while, you would understand what I said in my last paragraph.
What I was saying related to other topics and other posts, and those I was addressing would understand that. I was not "spiking" before you gave your arguments. This topic has nothing to do with you, and I do not expect you to understand. Had I wanted you to, I would have stated what I was saying more clearly.

QuoteI mean, really, "the truth that I speak"?
As to the "truth that I speak" line, that also related to other topics most would know about. One example is a disagreement I had with Aus, where no-one backed him when he stated that there is favouritism and prejudice on the forums. At the time, I argued against what he was saying, but now agree with him.
QuoteFor the sake o' Saint Bridget, by saying the "truth" you are basically telling us we are
Who is Saint Bridget? Don't think she had much to do with this topic, but you might know.

Quote1) too daft to figure out the truth
2) since we are daft, you have to give us the propagandaized version
3) since your arguments are so unsound, you spike our arguments before we make them, attempting to write us off as morons, idiots, and bigots by your "I fear much hate will come in my direction".

I do not believe all are too daft to figure out the truth, but think some are denying it is so, and refuse to listen.
As to the second, propaganda!? I have proved what I said already, so the "daft" bit can go out the 2nd story, and there was no propaganda in what I was saying, only truth.
As to the 3rd, you have no right to say my arguments are unsounded, when you replied to a single paragraph of what I said, and try to pick me apart from those few sentences.
The basis of what I was saying is above and you chose to ignore it, because what I'm saying is right, and you have no reply to it.
You have seen what the general forum thinks of what I have said, and what I've mentioned in the last paragraph has turned out to be true.

Throughout this, you have proved that you are:

1) Extremely obsessed will Warlords to the level that a change in the system affects your real life in negative ways
In regards to what I have proved in your opinion, I find that weak. You judge me on one paragraph you do not understand, as I keep repeating. (You're making me repeat myself, and it's cluttering everything up. Gah.)
This is not the first "change" in the game of RWL, and they have not had a negative impact on me very often, if at all.
Quote2) Extremely resistant to allow others to play the game in their own way, affirming yourself as a narrow-minded individual
Ad's sudden change of play is one incident where I feel strongly, and have expressed that. You generalise with one view I have expressed, and that was an exception to normal circumstances. I won't bother repeating why, it is a waste to continue when you ignore everything I say.

You have not made your point clear, what you said had very little to do with the topic!
You have made a personal attack on me, because you could not make one judged on what I have said.
If that's all you can come up with, your post was pointless, unfair, and based on your own ramblings. Really, it is little more than spam and flaming.

Using your vegetarian salad explananation, it does not match. Too basic. It is more like:
Jumping on someone if they normally ate a vegetarian salad and they were vegetarian, and I was a vegetarian, knew them and respected them as someone to look up to help keep me that way.

They would be perfectly justified if that was the case, and it is.
You will remember that when Ad was knighted because of his kindness everyone said they wanted to be more like that, and in-game, too.
Ad was someone to look up to, to guide them, to follow.
Now he is warlike, it is like leaving everything he stood for behind! It makes me feel that those who said they wanted to be like Ad were cheated, were done out of a deal.

EDIT- Too tired to do this properly, only half-heartedly posting. Come back at a later date.

Xenocide

Typically, on a topic like this, I would agree with Holby.

But I do have an issue to raise.  Although I have not been here quite as long as Ad, I do not ever recall him ever asking for special treatment.  I don't remember him ever saying "Because I am peaceful, please don't attack me."

His "not-attack" status was not his idea or request.  He simply played the way he played, and people chose not to attack him.  Even when other people did attack him during his "peaceful" phase (I am guilty of this) I do not believe he sent out messages to the offending warlord demanding they stop because he was peaceful.

Based on this, I believe that his elevation to immunity from attacks was from us; the players of RWL, not from himself.  If his protection was indeed from us, than he has not lied to anybody, taken advantage of anybody, and his playing is entirely within the rules and game.

Note:  If anyone can show me where Ad asked for special treatment in this game and to not be attacked, please show me and blow my entire post out of the water.
"You call that a knife? THIS is a knife."
"That's not a knife, that's a spoon."
"Alright, alright, you win. I see you've played knifey-spooney before."

Hmm. WAY too much philosophy. I'm copnfuzzled.

Why don't we just stop posting if we all agree that we shouldn't waste energy on the topic?
