Online Attacking...

 I was just wondering...
What does everyone think of attacking other warlords while they are online?
Is it bad manners, good strategy, both, or neither?

I've seen a lot of warlords do this, and I hate it, though I generally will retaliate against people who do this while we're both online. Whenever someone attacks me while I'm online, I generally get offline- it's easier, for me at least, to fix things and get back up from it, after they're done attacking.

Views, anyone?

I agree with you about getting offline when someone starts attacking. Even though I never did that. I'm a perfectionist, and a neat-freak, so every time I see something out of order, I fix it, and then it happens all over again, and I end up wasting hours of my time.

This is a topic I haven't thought about much, but I'll think on it, and maybe add a couple good points later. I'll just say what I can now.

For the most part, I avoid attacking who are online. Dunno why, exactly, I suppose it's just the HPR in me warning they're liable to stomple me back.

What you said about it being good etiquette (or bad manners) confuses me...since no firm etiquette has really been established here.

I suppose it's a good strategy for HPRs...attack while their back is turned, although when they get back online, you can't stop them from attacking you back. It prevents more attacks than normal, though, if you think about it. If two people are online at the same time, they're probably going to have a go at each other till one has to get off, whereas if only one is online, he's probably only going to attack a couple times and leave the guy alone. It usually riles up a sense of determination and competition when you attack someone online. This is all from my point of view though, so feel free to contradict me if I'm wrong somewhere.

 attacking while their offline doesn't need to be hpr. It could be u just need the land, then get stronger using the land so they cant attack you,

It all depends.  In turbo, I have only skiffs, and if you havnt figgured this out yet and you play turbo, then  :P
I usually go ahead and attack while people are online because I know I can break most and that the other warlord will pummel me in return.  and if they didnt, somone else would, so in that situation it makes no difference, with all the turns in turbo it is easier to recover.

in regular however, I need to be more careful, as there are less turns there and it is harder to recover from a hard back-and-forth battle, as I found out in a battle with a horde named Violent Sheep..  by the time it ended I was too weak to defend myself from formerly weaker warlords...  it it took me a bit to recover...

I was playing nice and sometimes got in the top 20.  Calria would attack me 4 times a day and I never attacked back.  Then one night I was on line building when she attacked me a bunch and put havoc to my horde.  My army was so devastated that there was no reason to continue because I would not be able to defend the land I had left.  So I turned and attacked her back and messed up her horde.  She then attacked me back again.  We wrote back and forth as we kept waiting for turns to attack each other.  Eventually she went to bed, I stayed up most of the night retaliating for her wrongful actions.  then posted on the Blade forum that she was EVIL.  They killed her the next day.  To this day she still does not like me.  

I think attacking anyone but a known enemy is inexcusable when they are on line, and bad manners.

I hate it when people attack me while I'm online. I generally wait until the player is offline before I attack, unless I'm feeling extremely vengeful..

Sometimes I attack everybody. Doesn't mean I dislike them, in *or* out of the game. It just means that I'm a vicious little warriormaiden. :D

I still think I attacked you once in First Era, Addy. Then again, I was horrible in first era... I thought 200,000 skiffs was this amazing thing. (Of course, back then, that was a lot better than it sounds now...)
