Ya but i'm not talking about pursuing people online, i'm talking about building relationships with people over time, and it just happens to be over the internet. I think if you've got like 3 years talking to somebody, and they can still be as deceptive as to hide their gender then it likely wasn't a very intense relationship.

Eh, a healthy relationship needs a physical side too. I am good friends with plenty of people over the web, mainly through this site, but being friends is one thing, actually trying to have a relationship with someone you have never met is just... pointless, at best.
