RWL is all about land. As a new player, you probably want to scout up to about 5000 land and build some basic buildings before attacking. What race are you? The best strategy depends heavily on that.

@Shadow: I chose stoat, mainly because I thought that would be a less common choice. Alright, so get tons of land and buildings, I can do that.

You don't have to attack. It'll be harder to get land though.

you can try to message them. Most people take land as they can get it, and you will probably have to fight back at some point. You can also hold a large army when you are offline to make them fail or at least make it expensive to attack you.
