I use chrome and it has a built in proxy. Deal with it.

No proxy is not like defense. It can be used as a defense. Basically you connect to something through what is known as a "proxy server" and the IP of that server is shown instead of your own. Like this, you cannot be tracked. You are anonymous for the most part.

Along with the proxy you should use a VPN. Also have things like Javascript and cookies disabled, and something like Peerblock won't hurt.

You become a virtual ghost.
