Has anyone else read this book? I'm ten or so chapters into it.

Its certainly interesting.

I read it. Didn't like it quite as much as 1984. I will tell you why when you are done, I don't want to spoil things.

I've heard of 1984. Is it worth reading?

Similar theme?

Both books are about relatively near (at the time) distopian futures. 1984 is just much more overtly distopian.

The connection is because 1984 is something of a response to A Brave New World, one which is a little more realistic and true to human character. Maybe I am just a cynic.

I finished reading Brave New World today. I liked it. Although the ending threw me off a bit, even though I should have seen it coming.

Ashyra Nightwing

I haven't actually read Brave New World. It's on my list of things to read though. Luckily my housemate is studying English Literature and has pretty much every book ever. I've been borrowing books all year, I've certainly become more cultured :P

Currently reading Dante's Inferno - I was surprised at how easy it is to get into for a book about Hell written in verse 700 years ago.

Krowdon

I've heard if that. I'm currently reading 'The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'

Then moving on to Sherlock Holmes. I think i'll read 1 Sherlock story between whatever else I'm reading. I have a friend who is going to lend me 1984.

Animal Farm is good, and also this real good dystopian short story I read.....god I'm going to die if I can't remember the name.

I've read Animal Farm, Brave New World, and all the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Recommend all of them.

I'm also currently reading 1984, which I like...
