You should check out the in-development forum skin called RWL3. It will give you an idea of the look and feel i have envisioned for rwl3. Note that there is still much to do on it, i haven't changed the header from the 2010 skin i based it off of.

Shadow

I still think hidden fox 09 is your best layout yet. 3 is too bright for me. I don't like sites with white backgrounds usually, they are hard on the eyes.

Kilkenne

Agree with the sentiment that its a bit too bright, but I am attached to the 2009 version.

2010 is too bright? The background is #444444, how hung over are you if that's too bright?

And /most/ websites are on a white background. Facebook, google, youtube, Yahoo, Baidu, wikipedia, windowslive, amazon, and blogger.

I've grown attached to 2010

Rwl3 is indeed too bright (told ya)

It is an adjustment, you switched from one to the other. If you were new to the site it wouldn't be too bright.

windhound

Forum theme should match game theme
Does this mean we're getting the first white-based game theme?

2010 is not too bright, it is pretty much the same as 09 but with different shaped icons. I like 09 over 10 because of familiarity. But my dislike for RWL3 theme is not because I am familiar with 09, it really is too bright.

Google is bright, but who spends any length of time actually looking at their homepage?

Well geeze, not if there is this much resistance. It's a really good looking design, but I can make it dark if I have to. I just want to make the most approachable design for people who come across the site. Dark theme's are great too though...

As for the forums, I wanted black on white for readability. Check out RWL3 theme now, because I've changed it back to being dark - which completely changes the look and feel... But if there is an SMF addon that allows users to set their BG, then we might be able to come to a middle ground here - especially since this theme looks very nice on many different backgrounds.

Briar

why is this in the spa room and not ,like, development or something

Sure. I just figured it would be of little interest so I put it in spa.

So now that I've tried it on a dark BG I'm not sure if the colours are right. The orange looks a lot more like "safety orange" when it's on top of a dark gray.

But at the same time, if you change the background to an image, everything shows up nicely.

Shadow

That's a little better, but the orange doesn't fit.
