Ipad or Laptop?

laptop, no contest. There is very little an Ipad can do that a laptop cannot, but the converse is not true.

For most people, Ipads are just expensive toys. There are scientific application for tablets that make them attractive in some fields like microscopy and such, but frankly, the average people doesn't need one.

The iPad is a cool toy, but I have to agree that a laptop is a more practical buy. If tablets go below the price of a netbook then maaaaaaybe they're worth buying.

Laptop any day, as has been said laptops are way more powerful than iPads, plus you can customise / upgrade / fix them far more easily than an iPad; and it'll probably last longer than an iPad.

A kindle fire is a good idea if you want to read books and have some of the functionality of an iPad, they're way cheaper than an iPad and still have the cool factor of being a tablet, whilst probably being a better e-reader than an iPad (the screen is nicer on your eyes)

I have both. But the sad part is my laptop cost less than my Ipad. The touchscreen is also hard to use in some cases. So laptop, much more practical and useful.

You guys make me feel alone.
People can use Ipads as subsitutes for notebooks as well as it being a bit more portable and easier. It is really mostly for recreation but can handle the neccessary requirements for acedemics, like essays an such. You can also go on the internet with both, thus making that end equal. Along with a barcode scanning feature, it has apps such as the bump app, where you and another Ipad user can easily share information (handy for downloading online textbooks and notes), the very popular and publicised facetime (what you see is what you get), fast speed, and the ability to change windows in a snap (play angry birds when you finish your notes, then when the teacher walks by switch windows quickly). Although I posess neither, I did learn a little about the ipad. Basically, it can be a wise choice if you know what to do with it. The laptop is easier to learn because if your tping right now, You must realize that you are at least a novice with a computer.
