Giving people the option to vote for themselves tends to spread out the votes....it's easier to find a leader everyone wants when people are forced to pick someone else they trust with the leadership of the clan.

Something to do with selfish narcissistic egotistical freaks + essay I wrote barely bordering pg13 rating about the human nature of selfishness.

I wrote a small introduction:

In society today, selfishness is almost an inherent characteristic. While dismissed shallowly as being (balanced? I need a better word) by such heroic acts of selflessness, the majority of people are nonetheless more interested in their personal well-being.
