Actually I've run the numbers before - never bothered to backup anything, but here -
There are 4 houses, 7 years.  There is a seemingly even distribution of male and female, or we'll assume so.
Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean, Seamus are the Gryfinder house boys for their year - I'm pretty sure that's it.
We'll assume roughly equal student distribution, so 10 per house per year. 
This is a total of 280 students.
