just a thought, but maybe we could do a round where your on your own, no aiding or clans or teamwork, just who can mass the most net in a round. it should be interesting as not 1 clan would be dominating the round, and could help refine your strategy to generate the most net you possibly can.

just reread and saw the difference, and i dont think we should restrict it to leaders.

To point out what would happen if this idea took hold.

The game in its current format is designed around the idea that some strategies serve one purpose, which in turn necessitates teamwork.

In other words, in this format, everyone would be a wolf and all net would be food. At least the competitive players would be.

solo indies, cash massers to buy cheap merc of food and many more solo starts could contend.

Or you could do a no clans no leader round.

That'd make things interesting.

No leaders would be fantastic.

I have been lobbying for this since I got back.

And I'd agree with Neo - this is obscenely in favor of leader players. Indies get screwed unless they don't play as indies for most of the set - they'd have to food mass with foragers (which may or may not even be on par with leader food making)  and then sell it to fund indy runs at the end with no troop selling. And even then, they're probably getting murdered like crazy. And never mind the way attacks are imbalanced by open attack ops being the exclusive preserve of leaderers.

I think the concept is good, but right now, it's just not going to be anything less than a leader resource massing fest.  To make it work, we'd have to 1) Raise marketable amounts of troops so indies could store everything on the market as they go (80% + of troops marketable) or 2) Cut food net to nothing, cut amount of food marketable (say 30% marketable) and boost sack power, especially against food. Option 1 uncaps indies and makes them able to compete with leaders; option 2 caps leaders by removing their ability to endlessly mass food/cash for the end of the round.  Attack ops would also have to be either removed, or fixed so indies can use them just as well as leaderers.

Edit: No leaders is also a plausible solution to the problem.

Edit 2: Pippin, have you ever played anything but leaders? Indies have a cap, and any sort of non-leader cash generation would lose all their cash to leaders. Like I said, market storing food is the only way a non-leaderer could compete.

Lol. We have tried this before, a few times. It is more or less as predicted. Though indies don't get the shaft because there are no indiers ^_^. Or very few anyway. All in all, it is just rather boring, IMO.

On the flip side, no leader rounds are also quite boring. We have done several of those as well. The game really does benefit from having both options, it simply isn't properly balanced yet.

Eh, there's too much clan play at the minute, some times it's good for a round with no real teams...not in the long run, but a round with no real teams won't hurt anybody.

Failing a no clan round, I'd like a forced clan round. The teams each round are too similar, people need to work with different people.

I dunno Shadow. The no leader rounds I have done have been more grindy and thinky than any other experience I have ever had in RWL.

The last forced clan round we did was awful and I will stand and yell veto until my lungs collapse.

or perhaps even a organised clan round of 3-5 members where you get to choose your clan members before the round starts and see which clan can build the most net within a set time period.
