QuoteI am not saying that 9/11 was an inside job, but you cannot dispute the possiblity that it COULD have been, not likely, but still a possibility.

I can. There is no way in hell the US government could pull off something that big and have no leaks about it. We couldn't keep the Manhattan Project a secret, and pulling off something like 9/11 would involve about the same number of people as the Manhattan project.

Besides Obama is not really black, he is muslim. Barrack HUSSIEN Obama..

The other thing that really bugs me is when people call them African Americans. They are Americans, UNLESS they moved to this country and where born there. I have sweedish blood in my family blood lines, but I am not a Swedish American.

Um yeah, to expand on Sharptooth, Islam is a religion, someone can be be black and a muslim, but Obama isn't.

African American is a term used to describe someone's race. Swedish people and white Americans are the same race. Black Africans are a different race.
QuoteFurther to my point, I am reminded of a television interview I saw many years ago. A reporter from one of the major US television networks (I forget which one) was interviewing black British athlete Kriss Akabusi after being a member of the 400 meters relay team that took the gold medal at the 1991 Athletics World Championships. The interviewer started off with:

“So, Kriss, what does this mean to you as an African-American?”

“I’m not American, I’m British”

“Yes, but as a British African-American …”

“I’m not African. I’m not American. I’m British.”

This went on for some time before the reporter got so flustered that she gave up and went to interview someone else. I guess more than anything else it demonstrates the potential absurdity of political correctness â€" this reporter was so tied-up with the idea that the “correct” term for someone of afro-caribbean ancestry was African-American and not Black that she couldn’t cope with the fact that many black people are neither African nor American.
Honestly not sure if its real, but it illustrates a valid point.
Political Correctness is crud.  They're not really African Americans.  Most of the black population in the US has been here for generations, they're no more African than I am European.  I guess I could call myself European American, maybe Caucasian American...

You're an aussie right Lucy?  Do you call black people African Americans?  African Australians perhaps?

QuoteAccording to National Statistics, as of the 2001 census, there are over a million black people in the United Kingdom; 1% of the total population describe themselves as "Black Caribbean", 0.8% as "Black African", and 0.2% as "Black other".[87]

Just a guess, but British black people on the whole just call themselves 'black,' less than 2% attach a country of origin.  In other words, they think of themselves as British.  IMHO, this is how it should be.

The word has a connotation, if a white person says it it is implied that the black person is slave and the white person is master. If someone calls you cracker you can call them out on it.
It might have, 100 years ago.  Words change meanings quite often.  50 or so years ago 'gay' meant happy and 'hoe' was a farm implement
Nigger right now is just an offensive term for a black person.  There's no hidden meaning, its just offensive...  given, that is, another race is using it.  If a black person calls another black person a nigger 's fine.

Anyways, someone's name doesn't denote religion Alazar..  'Had a friend in High School with the last name of Pickle, and he didnt really like pickles.
It does, however, tell you something about his parents.  And upbringing does influence people, how much depends on individual circumstances.

QuoteIn addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
There's whole bunches of ignorance contained in that quote.

Character is important, especially in one of the most visible jobs in the world.  Determining what made the man who he is today relies on looking at past influences and choices, so this is relevant.  Especially as he's basically an unknown outside his Chicago politics, which are in themselves a bit worrying.

First off, Wikipedia is not an accepted source in any sort of school I have ever been to.

Sharptooth, they are making me out to be a "black hater" Every race has their people with faults. Even whites in my own country are worthless, thats my point, so please re-READ what I said. I said nothing about them being all the same..

Did I ever even mention Communism? No, so please stop putting words in my mouth.

I should stop being lazy and look it up, but I am almost positive that I saw somewhere that Obama grew up in the Phillipines I believe it was, and that he was Muslim. I am sorry, would Middle Eastern be a more correct name for his ethnicity?

I do not agree with much of socialism. A mixed economy is alright with me, I understand that some regulations are needed in todays world. That doesn't mean you have to go overboard with it.

No? His parents, from what I understand, are Kenyan, and he was born in Hawaii. Where in that mix does the Middle East come in? Only in his middle name. Which is more or less meaningless. All of my cousins have the middle names of Archangels, it doesn't mean that they are Archangels...

Obama's mother was born in Kansas you fools.

Also, she looks strikingly similar to Ayn Rand, interesting.

No Middle East in there at all.

Also, the Phillipines are not part of the middle east, they are about hlfway between China and New Zealand. Not that it matter, but how did you make the connection between Phillipines and Middle East?

Alazar is probably bringing up the middle east because Obama's grandfather was a Muslim:

4. Hussein Onyango OBAMA was born about 1895 and died in 1979. Before settling down to work as a cook for missionaries in Nairobi he was a traveler. Recruited to fight for colonial power England in World War I, he visited Europe and India, and afterward lived for a time in Zanzibar, where he converted from Christianity to Islam, family members said.

Quoted from your source Shadow.

A misconception that all Muslim's live in the middle east.....

Not that it really matters, his father and grandfather weren't even part of his life.

I get the impression that Alazar has no clue about Obama's actual family, and he was bringing up the middle east because of obama's middle name.

Holy crap, MIDDLE name, MIDDLE east... coincidence? I think not...

No, no, and MORE no! Bad Alazar!

OK, Obama's history goes like this: Obama's mom, a native of Kansas, met Obama's Dad, a native of Kenya, in a Russian language class in 1960 at the University of Hawaii. They fell in love, got married, had Barack, in 1961 and then got divorced 3 years later, all in Hawaii. After the divorce, Barack's father went back to Kenya, and saw his son only once more, in 1971. Obama Sr. was a Muslim, but later became an Athiest. Obama's mother was a Christian. Following the divorce, Obama's mom met and married a man named Lolo Soetoro, who was from Indonesia. When all Indonesians were recalled to their home country, i 1967, Soetoro and his new family went. Obama lived in Indonesia for 4 years, going to local schools, which ranged from public, to Muslim, to Christian. He returned to Hawaii in 1971, and lived with his grandparents. His mom returned a year later. He finished high school in Hawaii, then moved to LA for college. So no, Obama is not Muslim, he did not grow up in the Phillipines, and he is an African American. A true African American, as his mom was American and his father was African. He had a former Muslim father, a Muslim stepfather, and a Christian mother. He identifies as Christian himself.

African Australians don't really exist, there are pretty much only first generation migrants/refugees, in which case they're called Africans/African-Americans/British/wherever they're from. Here, "black people" usually refers to indigenous Australians.

I was still a little buzzed up when I posted that ha. Idk why I was thinking Middle Eastern, thinking maybe because some of the northeastern African countries, are basically in the Middle East. Obama was at one point a muslim. That is the point I was trying to make. If he would have still been muslim during the election I would venture to guess he would have taken a huge hit in votes. Seeing that I also do think it's a possibility that the Christian thing is only for his image. Or he really did convert, not saying he didn't, just saying what he did made sense.

And yeah Volk I wasn't saying that he wasn't a real African American...
