How is that dishonorable? Honor is about keeping to ones personal code, not fore-swearing loyalties and whatnot. Shoot, plenty of honorable men have worked for tyrants. Erwin Rommel springs to mind. He was a very honorable, and well respected, guy, kept his oaths, didn't mistreat vanquished enemies, yet he still worked for Hitler.
