Which do you like better?

Witches and the dead - Witches and the dead
Turin Brakes - Dark on Fire On Fire

Marell

Peace Alliance gets his wish for week 8's match, giving us a nice variation from the previously metal/rock dominated rounds.
(and I assume you meant 'Dark on Fire' not 'I'm on Fire', which I couldn't find) :

I do believe you just completely screwed up the point of the Cage Match.

As in the winner from the previous round continues on to the next round?

I know, but pretty much everyone taking part in the voting seems to be a metal/rock fan, so it prob would have been a one sided battle... so I thought I'd mayswell put these two more evenly matched songs up against each other. Perhaps some of the other forum members may also join in without it all being metal dominated.

Volk, you haven't nominated a song for me yet..message me one for next week to vs this weeks winner  ;)

Genevieve

I voted for Turin Brakes simply for the reason that if a band uses their own band name as a song title... they are idiots.
I wouldn't really listen to either of these bands, but it's good to have something other than metal :)

Yes.

Meh, so put up a better band against Megadeth.

Actually I nominated like 5 songs, back in Week 3 or 4.

Do something other than metal and stick to youtube for clips and I'll get involved - my security software doesn't like most of the non youtube sites, and I don't like metal ^_^

Course, if everyone else is a metal fan I'll just stay out of it.

Let me see if I can find a good one to nominate.,.

Distance and Time by Slowcoaster, but they don't have it on youtube...

Hm, all I can find on youtube for them is clips, and none of their best songs.

David Grisman and Jerry Garcia play Whiskey in the Jar. I love this version. Kicks Metallica's butt anyway.

K well... youtube doesn't have anything other then mainstream music.

Shadow

That's true, I'll see what I can find. Too bad you can't upload clips to the forums... Can you?

Not at all true. I find weird bands on there all the time.

And both songs are freakin horrible, not even gonna vote.

Agree, mostly.

Interesting songs.  I don't listen to a lot of metal, which is why I normally would choose the more melodic pieces rather  than the heavy stuff.
Maybe two kinds of Cage Matches?

K lol I explained why I did that, it was a conscious decision, not a mistake  :P

But yeah, I was thinking about having two cage matches, metal and non metal, but couldn't be bothered haha. Feel free to start one up yourself though, and this can stay the metal one.

most /actual/ small-time bands isn't going to bother putting their songs up on youtube, unless there's a live video of some show they did or something.

It still defeats the purpose of the Cage Match. If you wanted to introduce something non-metal, put it up against Megadeth. It just may win. I realize not everyone likes metal.

Anyway, check your messages. Only one or two of the song suggestions I just sent you were metal.

I second that the winner should go on
I did the cage match for months at another forum and alot of metal fans ment alot of metal nominations and wins, however, the metal bands did not always win up against other genres. I did many cross genre battles.
If I remember correctly, I think at one point Lip Gloss Black by Atreyu (a 5 time winner at the time) lost to the theme song for Narutu.

I did try to mix it up a bit, keeps it more interesting
I didn't vote in this one, because I recently switched to CentOS 5, and being completely new to Linux, I haven't been able to get sound to work with flash applications like youtube yet.

hell, it took hours just to get dual monitors to work
