Empire Showdown

Characters:
Egyptian Pharaohs: Ramses II, Thuthmosis III
Byzantine Empire: Justinian,
Frankish Kings: Charlemagne, Charles Martel
Greek Rulers: Alexander the Great, King Leonidas
Roman Empire: Julius Caesar, Marcus Aurelius
Mesopotamia: Gilgamesh, Hammurabi
Carthaginians: Hannibal Barca
Ancient Hebrews: King David

Objective (Different Game Plays):
•   Battle Royal: To eliminate all the other heroes from the game. Faster playing.
•   War: Destroy their capital city. Longer time.

Start of the Game:
1.   All players are given 10 pennies to act as hit points
2.   Each player gets 5 nickels to serve as money
3.   Players choose an empty square for their capital city.
4.   Players choose a hero from the list of above and place the hero's token at a starting point on the board which must be at least 7 spaces away from another player's starting point.
5.   Players may buy items from the shop at the starting point first. Prices are on the Item Guide.
6.   Players roll a 6 sided die to determine who goes first. The player that gets the highest number goes, and so on.
7.   Each player gets one quarter to serve as a level for their hero. The level up guide is in the guide.
Your turn:
1.   Roll a die to see how many spaces you go
2.   When you move that amount of spaces, there is either a special square or a plain one. When you land on the plain square, another player draws a question card and reads the question to you. If you answer the question correctly, then you may get the item, experience, or money indicated on the card. If you answer it incorrectly, you do the action in the incorrect box.
•   Battle Space: take the nearest enemy hero and battle with him or her. The battlers have to answer questions to hit the other battler. The player who lands on the battle square first gets to answer first and the opposing player reads a question from the question pile to them. If the battler answers correctly, the other player has to take the amount of hit points away equal to the amount of damage the battler does. If the battler answers incorrectly, they lose their turn. Then you switch to the other player and continue. When one battler loses all their hit points, the battle is over. The losing battler either is eliminated from the game, or moved back to their capital city depending on which type of game play you chose.  Battlers may attempt to escape the battle by rolling the dice. The escaping battler must get a 1, 3, or a 6 in War or just a 6 in Battle Royal to escape and move the hero token back onto their base. If they do not get those numbers, they skip their turn. The winner of the battle gains experience (Level Up Guide) and half of the opponent's gold (rounded down). In Battle Royal, you get everything the player has except the capital. You may also use one Doctor Card.
•   Shop: You may buy items from here with nickels
•   Event: You draw a card from the event pile and do the action that it says. If you get a barbarian card, follow the Barbarian square step.
•   Plain: Another player draws a card and reads the question to you. If you answer it correctly, you gain the reward it has on the card. If you answer incorrectly, you lose the number of money indicated on the card.
•   Barbarian: Battle with the barbarian the same way as the battle space. The only difference is that the barbarian will always hit you with the damage it has on the card and does not need to answer the questions. You will go first and if you defeated, you lose half of your money and get sent back to you capital city. If you defeat the barbarian, you gain the rewards indicated on the card.
•   Capital City: You may take away one marker from the city once per a turn from the time you land on it. Once the city is destroyed in War, the player whom this city belongs to is eliminated. You may also get the items on the player whom you have eliminated. If you are playing Battle Royal, you get half of the player's gold (rounded down) and an item equal to the level that the destroyed capital's hero is.
3.   At the end of your turn, you gain 2 gold.
4.   Alternate to each player until the game ends with one city standing or one player left.

Level Up Guide:
•   You may level up once you get enough experience expressed in dimes equal to double your current level expressed in quarters on your hero card. Once you level up, take all the dimes away.
•   Each barbarian you defeat has an experience boost for you indicated by EXP and followed by a number. You may take that number of dimes and put it onto your hero card.
•   When you level up, you gain five hit points.

Item Guide:
•   Prices are indicated on the item card you wish to buy.
•   When you buy it, you take the card and keep it until something causes you to lose it.
•   The Buying Price is indicated by a B and the Selling price is indicated by a S
•   You may also gain items from question cards, slain heroes, slain barbarians, destroyed capitals, or events.
•   If the item that you gain from the reasons mentioned in the bullet above is not available, you get the amount of money that the item is worth.
•   You may hold up to 8 items to equip on you. If you gain an item and you already have the maximum, you must get rid of one item in your inventory or not pick up the gained item.
Pies.
