I try and attack people which i can get at least 400 of more land from each attack. I also learned its not good to get land fat, or have to much land and guards, and little people. So make sure you keep up your people.

you can always scout to get more land...

Scringepaw, save up your turns for like two days.  Then you need to scout, loot, and build until you are out of protection (you have to use 200 turns).  After you are out of protection, I would keep scouting and building up your troops until you get less than 20 acres of land for each turn, after that, I'd attack.

Bloodrath

While in protection, I like to build up a certain troop type and leaders. Once out of protection, I will attack with stoats for example, and if I find myself needing money or anything like that, I will use the Steal attack to get it. Then, after you attack and get land, I like to build up my other troop stats to get them higher, incase I am attacked.

I wouldnt recomend building guard towers. I find they are just a waste of land that could be used for your economy or for more troops or even leaders. A lot of newbs will use a massive guard build up, but my leaders go right through them and reck there economy. Then, after beating down there troops with murder, you can take there land fairly easily. Guards do help, but I would rather put those free acres towards barracks or huts.

Kilkenne

Guards help somewhat, but they make you rise VERY slowly in the ranks...I know of one person who made it to the top ten just recently who had 60,000 guards and not many could break him at all, despite his insufficient troop counts. It seems that they only work in huge numbers, because then they need armies more than 2 times your size in rats or almost 2 and a half times in stoats.

calria

Also, guards can be risky simply because of the landfatness you have to generate in order to have enough... and if someone does penetrate and take out some of those towers, then it leaves the door open for everyone to take a piece of that yummy, gooey, drippy pie you've baked for them. 10% guards is about right, to go with ample troop ratios.

baransarn

Just scout out land, its original and simple.

Well, I have figured that out...

Pity you didn't figure out about the gam- sorry, no more criticizing...
*Puts on happy face*
Isn't it lovely you worked scouting out all by yourself? *fake grin*
I will not deleted this

RazorClaw

Well, I'd suggest that you SCOUT, and maybe ATTACK, and perhaps PM SOMEONE instead of making a topic.

I try to build as little as I can to keep my land down, but when I get more troops I need to build foregers and markets to stay out of the red. But people in the top ten have the same amount of land as me but they must have alot more troops.
How do they do it?
Do they stay in the red all the time?
