What do Guard Towers do?
The noises of the world cannot hurt the clouds
The only certainly in life is death
Remember where ever you go there you are
There are 3 types of people, ones good at maths and the others not

 Gaurd Towers give you more protection from other horde attacks...  
Look in the Game Guide...  I'll paste what it says here:

Guards: They are your friends. 500 DP are not to be laughed at. They also work in all situations. So, while your massive army is mobilizing around, providing those DP you need, someone can still sneak in with that Specialty attack (check the attacks section), and beat you. So build guards. They factor into ALL defenses (except with leaders).

 Its better to put build barraks cuz they give you people to protect you!
