Does anyone have any marten strategies?

70-80% markets, 20% huts, 0-10% foragers. Tax 42%, eco settings cash 80-100%, food 0-20%. Use the cash income buff and buy armies from the market at the end of your run.

Since I am still new, I have no clue what all the buffs are. What is the cash buff?

Use turns menu -> general's hut

you will see three dropdown menus. In the first one is one that says "cash income +%". Pick that, enter the number of turns to use.
