Battle of the hot hatches

I've kinda takin a liking to hot hatches lately
as I like performance cars, but need to haul my music equipment

so here's some front runners in the hot hatches segment

I'm bias, but the 2009 Ford Focus RS actually looks decent

I've always liked A3's especially the S3
I really liked the Volkswagen version A3 S-Line Quattro, the Golf R32, but they don't make that anymore.
but looking at price, I have to go with the WRX-STi, 300HP, all wheel drive, and highly reliable.

The Focus RS looks good, but we'll have to see how it holds up
also, it's not available in Canada

Any particular reason not to consider used?
I mean.  I can see the appeal of somethin' brand new I guess, but the Golf R32 was discontinued in 2008...  it aint exactly old.
And new cars depreciate sooo fast

Soobie looks nice, the hoodscoop is massive though.  Any chance its functional, or just for show?

as far as the subaru, no idea if it's functional or not
these days, fake hood scoops and useless spoilers seem to be all the rage
