Moving North or South

I've been looking at our movement thing, and thus far, it seems almost entirely pointless!  Unless there are specific region bonuses (era bonuses in other promi's)  these movements do nothing.  Are there really bonuses that just aren't displayed?

Northlands give 20% more troops per turn
Mossflower gives 20% more loyalty per turn
Southsward gives a +80 worker bonus, although I am not sure what that actually translates into.
