Steal vs. Take

I am new here and the game guide doesn't seem to be finished.
So what do the missions Steal and Take do? They aren't named very descriptively.

It's pretty simple, actually. =) There's a word missing from "Take"...which is "City". So Steal allows you to steal money from another player, and Take City will attempt to take one of their cities, if they have one.

It's actually not a mission, it's a couple actions put together.

When you buy something from the market, you get the goods and the seller gets the money. But if the seller isn't online, you can steal the money from them, so you get everything and they get nothing. That's how I understand it anyway.
