Pearl Jam or Nivana

Lately I've been listening to quiet a bit of grunge, mainly underground stuff and Nirvana-and that's who my vote goes to.
Cobain was a powerful, inventive song writer, and when he wanted to be, good lyricist. He' was original and influencial like Pearl Jam can only dream to be. Grohl and Krist were also talented players.
But Pearl Jam seem to be soo fake-everything about them seems commercialised, where as Nirvana actually purposefully tried making in Utero less commerical then nevermind.

Anyway. I'm rambling. If you know who I'm talking about, vote.

I would also have to say Nirvana as I've always enjoyed their music. There's something about Kurt that I find inspirational, even though he was a depressed, strung out mess, himself. I agree to an extent that he was a lyrical genius, though many disagree with his writing skills, as the band often used simple riffs. Definitely one of my favourite bands though, now that you mention it. It's been too long, I might have to go download a few songs.

Kurt is definetly an inspiriation, though I agree after Nevermind his life was a real mess. Poor childhood, undiagnosed chronic bronchities, his view of himself (look at some of the names of the song he wrote)/self-image and Courtney Love being the main factors.
He was a unique person though-he was bullied when he was younger for being friends with a homosexual, he was an opposer to rape, he tried to make underground musicians more popular, and he opposed the popularity thrust upon him.
Listening to him sing a cover of where did you sleep last night and unplugged pennyroyal tea-so much emotion. And looking at a live performance of Breed, there's alot of power. I've never seen Pearl Jam but anywhere near the same level of emotion in as Nirvana, which is what sets them apart.
Lyrically his stuff was quite simple and random, though pennyroyal tea, rape me, polly and You know you're right are exceptions. And yes the riffs were simple-I started learning guitar a few weeks back (self taught atm) and come as you are is very simple, more so then smoke on the water even.
Dave Grohl was a brilliant drummer and Krist was a solid bassist. They did revive rock, if only for a few years.

I've been listening to them a lot lately, I guess it shows :D
