How dare someone actually use a useful feature of the game... ridiculous.

To be fair, technically it's code abuse.
But I'm getting fed up of people being bashed for going into vaca. If the admins don't mind, then it's legal as far as I'm concerned. Like onlining, it's dirty, but eh.

I was surprised you said it was cheating even after Oblit said he was legitimately gone.  This was, again, the reason vacation mode exists - if you need a break from the game to do irl stuff.
Its like using an axe to cut down a tree or using it to cut down someone you dont like.  Vacation mode and the axe are both tools, its not inherently bad to use either.

First of all, anyone going into vacation misses 4 days of turns. They can't attack you for +80 hours, they're not gaining turns or profit. They can't be strengthened by aid.

Only reason to complain about someone going into vacation is when it's planned to lock land by a group and when people use another empire who's vacating to defend their stuff. Avoiding retaliation is a compliment to the enemy (can't complain)

Every player has the right to leave the game for whatever reason, there's a few factors that make it a dirty move but that's what these flaming forums are for aye?

Just use the two fixes we have at Valhall. All empires in vacation are kicked out of it in the last 72 hours (or last week, I forget since I've never used the feature, I just remember arguing to have it fixed) and a separate display for empires soon to be in vacation, assuming you guys still have the 12 hour lockout.
