 I think you guys are missing the point. You're not picking a person to be, but  life to live in an alternative environment.

If you could hold any profession in history, present day, or fiction, what would it be?

I would want to be an Imperial Navy officer in the galactic civil war (Star Wars), a torpedo man on the USS Johnston at the battle of Leyte gulf in WW2, or maybe a Roman Senator.

Imperial comes from the Latin "Imperator", which is the same thing as the English word Emperor. The reason there is a difference even though they both refer to the same thing is because one is Latin, while the other is germanic. Same deal with the different pronunciations, its because you are switching between root languages. English is about a third german, a third latin, and a third french. That's what you hate about English, that its a bastardized language.

Yea I know that these things have reason for them, it's just annoying how complicated English is compared to other languages. I'm learning French right now and I have to say that I'm really enjoying it. It's a really easy language to learn.

So we all know that some things in the English language just don't make much sense, like the various different types of "their"s, or silent consonants like in the words "know" and "psychotic", but what is the most annoying of them all? Tell me your opinion.

For me it's the fact the "Imperial" starts with an "I" but "Empire"  starts with an "E".

 Start with the corners, that's what my mom always said.
