The point of beta rounds is to find and report bugs. If you find them and refuse to report them, you are worse than useless. That is the point that is being made.
I suggest you look elsewhere when throwing around insults. You're about ten minutes late on your particular jab; I was just in a particularly benevolent mood and at least one member of the staff has now been told what, where, and how I stumbled upon the bug. Try everything you never do; there's enough people to cover what you'd have done anyways.

If memory serves, you need a 1.8 for Open Ops and a 2.2 for a successful Attack. Both have a minimum ratio of 50 required, though that ratio will be adjusted by the race advantages or disadvantages; a Rat would need a higher ratio than a Stoat, who would need a higher ratio than a Wolf. The key to successful missions...

Leaders / huts = Leader ratio
(Opponent leaders / opponent land) * 1.05 = Opponent's defense ratio
Your Leaders / [(Opponent Land + Your Land)/2] = Your attack ratio
Your attack ratio / opponent's defense ratio = Your attack advantage

Espionage: 1.05
Murder: 1.15
Steal: 1.6?
Poison: 1.7?
Open Attack Ops: 1.8
Attack: 2.2

As a side-note, Attack may cast successfully but fail and cost you and your opponent leaders. The percentages, if memory serves, is 5% of your opponent's leaders are lost and 10% of your own leaders are lost. You will be unable to cast Attack with less than a 50 leader ratio. An easy remedy for this is to use Capture on another player (to steal leaders & some land) if you're indying, or to destroy huts if you're leadering.

So far as I know, I'm not banned.

1) This remains a Beta round, meant to investigate gameplay and fix bugs (both new and old).
2) I didn't do much to break the rules, except to appear as myself.
Quote from: ShaelWe are currently beta-testing some new code this month. Please help us by letting us know if you find any bugs or anything unbalanced in the game. =) Game features may suddenly break or be modified throughout the round, so bear with us.
3) Now that I've been updated on the flow of information, I won't be playing this round any further.

The point of a beta round is to find bugs and report them immediately....not take advantage of it to completely ruin the game and hinder further testing of the game. This isn't a test server where you can do whatever you want. It's set up to be played like a normal Turbo round.

So do yourself a favor and be quiet. Don't make us ban you again.
So then I tell you again that there's a tiny issue with the bank and you ignore it for a few days (at least). I've played that game and danced that dance with you before. I didn't go so far off the deep end as you'd like to think. And as I said, there's a huge paper-trail of what I bought and from whom, as well as when I ditched the NW to test a few things myself. If you really thought it completely ruined the game and hindered further testing, you'd have simply deleted anything I transferred. You didn't, so we don't have a problem here. Further, to the admins: make up your mind as to whether this is a normal Turbo round w/o immort or if it's a special Turbo round designed to find and then fix bugs. I found additional bugs in my testing; bugs I wouldn't have stumbled upon without having exploited the first.

As to Firetooth, this is a Beta round. Unless I misinterpreted the initial message from Lady Day, this round is meant to find bugs so that they might be patched. A 1/4" pine board may be a fine surface that looks great, but it's not something that would be durable. The traditional point of bug-testing is to investigate all scenarios. If we play this exactly like a regular round, we'd never get anywhere because we wouldn't be trying anything.

Nobody was making a huge deal when I played last round or rounds before then. I had quite a few unofficial claimants to my warlord names.

I'm glad you think you're clever by exploiting a beta feature.
Oh thank you ever so much for the compliment! You just made my life!

Regardless, the procedure was [wash my mouth out!!!] up. I found a bug, exploited it for a bit of fun, and then went to sleep. Had a bit of a busy morning and wrote up a few paragraphs on the exploit to be privately sent to an admin but was disabled for exploiting a bug in a beta-round... which I was pretty sure was the point of the entire round--to find and exploit bugs. Shooting first and asking questions later is such a great idea, no?

Twilight Shadow: unless I'm mistaken, the admins won't give you back your things. You have cash for them, instead. The purpose of the Market is to sell troops and food. You sold troops and food, you were fully compensated for them, and so there's zero reason to give you your troops or food in return. As it stands, the cheapest bits of the market would have been bought-out either way.

Quotebtw i was disabled and later deleted myself. theres no reason to play if the "top" players have huge information advantages over the rest.

This is a beta round. As far as I know there will be no immort for this one. All we are doing is implementing new things and testing them for bugs. If someone has more info, it doesn't matter - once everything is working, all the new stuff will be announced in detail.

On that note: sack is currently giving 10x more than it should be. This will be remedied when shael gets a chance, probably in the next 24 hours, so enjoy it while it lasts.

By the way, why did you suddenly get pissed off at me? All I said was that I could guess who you are. I mean, I know you don't like me and I don't care, but that seems a pretty flimsy excuse to fly off the handle.
Because you have an unfair information advantage, along with other bits of the "staff"... who, with the exception of Wolf Bite & Shael, regularly play.

Here's a quick quiz....
#1: What races can massively manipulate networth?
Answer: Fox.
#2: What races can manipulate a field that will render some networth uncounted or outright drop networth?
Answer: All of them.
#3: How do they do this?
Answer: Money stored in the bank doesn't count towards networth. Money borrowed from the bank counts against networth.
#4: What could possibly have changed that this exploit wasn't seen before?
Answer: A bit of new code in the bank.

As for the other bug I noted, have a fun time finding it. It's hiding right under your noses.

And Ollie, I really don't care. You're pissed that a player with a history of finding bugs found yet another. You're pissed that this is what? This is what? The fourth major exploit I've found?

1) Rapid scout/delete/recreate. (Sevah & I exploited and fixed quickly)
2) The 8-turn exploit. (Many exploited and fixed later)
3) Gambling to transfer networth (Theoretical, but would have worked very well with low awareness)
4) Bank heist (I just exploited during a beta round)
5) Many other small issues.

Other than that, I can currently think of a few other "exploits", off the top of my head. Those, too, won't be mentioned around here.

As for anyone asking "wait, what? Who is he?" Yes, I'm the player formerly known as Bob-sama/CobyCopper. I have a rather long history of finding bugs and exploiting them to show that they are both a real bug and can be abused easily by anyone else who stumbles upon the issue.

Just so you are aware, if you know of bugs and intentionally exploit them you will just get banned. We appreciate your help finding them, maybe use them once for fun, but exploits won't be tolerated.
excellent to know theres nothing about refusing the report them.

I agree with Duke. Say nothing bro. I don't know who you are but if cripple minded people wanna talk down to you before you explain things don't explain it.

Exploit your heart away. It's the only way things actually get done. What happened to the double turns? i openly exploited the bug and it was changed. I got no ban. Report reshmort.
you mean the 8-turn exploit? that one was fun and nobody got punished. i didn't see how receiving 2x turns isn't a huge exploit worthy of abuse or bans.

btw i was disabled and later deleted myself. theres no reason to play if the "top" players have huge information advantages over the rest.

I think I know who you are now...
i know you know who i am. no player identities are safe with the staff; too many play in teams. everything leaks.

oh and because of that little bit, you're going to have to find the other bug yourself.

Aha. Well, that explains several bugs all at once. Thanks for finding that. Less thanks for exploiting it.
more thanks for exploiting it in a beta round. more thanks for making a paper trail for you to follow. less thanks for finding it first. more thanks for showing its potential for abuse and moving it from "tiny" to "monstrous". more thanks for not being so subtle about finding it. etc.

oh, and also, thanks for not spamming everyone with hundreds or even thousands of buying messages, potentially shutting down the server. i was tempted.

A cloaked marten?! Heh.

Also, everything disappeared off the market. And Bob's net seems to have jumped by about the same amount as all the marketed stuff. I doubt he bought it all, because that would have been silly without stealing anything back. Maybe there is something wrong with the leaking into his account thing, and it is leaking the wrong stuff? Or maybe buying one thing gives it all like the food bug did with selling?
nothing is silly if you found the biggest cash leak since the usa's 2010 budget.

I think it is the result of the bank borrowing bug he found. He is now like 1.5 trillion in debt, which takes his net down.

Am i right, Duke?
$480b debt, now. i "worked off" $1T or so already.

(0 - debt) / 1250 = nw
so -1.5t / 1250 = -1.2b nw

Bugs / how to get disabled
June 15, 2010, 10:30:31 AM
step 1: find a bug
step 2: use said bug
step 3: ... ?
step 4: profit massively!

+$1.25B nw
+$1.25T cash
-$1.5T debt
the bank of redwall was robbed blind because of poor lending practices

only complain that you didnt figure it out first.
all sellers on the market have been compensated
everyone else was uninjured
i didnt even grab up massive land and lock it at $1 nw :(

what i should have done is kept the nw and made it less noticeable that i found a gigantic bug.
that way i could have exploited it further since i had much more cash than the game could handle.
i should have followed up using the bug to steal everyones land and smash them while locking it up.
that would have been epic but i noticed too late so i didnt have loyalty to heal with to max land.

Since you're passive you haven't lost all your leaders opening attack ops when you've got 100 bil cash and 200turns left. (for example)

Balancing the game happens over time. After my +12 years of experience i can fast track your progress. Put me being a smart mouthed chump aside and you're looking at a self made millionaire from the slums. I'm offering my help for free. Take it or not we've all got nothing to lose away from these forums.

*recommendation*
Sack -50%
Capture -50%
Make attack ops costs +50%
No race attributes above 30%
for me, I had 35m loyalty, 450 turns, and a 170 ratio on a decent bit of land. that bug cripled my run as i couldnt goldmine plus couldnt recall or feast or loot. i was dead in the water. When u implement changes, its best to have an account even in a live test like this to test the change for any fast issue like losing 72m leaders.
