General Discussion / A good run
May 14, 2003, 06:38:52 PM
Only played here since the most recent reset of Regular, but thinking its about time I moved along. Gobbling Hordes, Incisive Fang, and myself stumbled across the game and have played at work, but found it a little dull as of late. Never much fun when you're at the top. :) Ereptor left, most of us were untouchable but surprisingly WolfBite and his friends were able to break me and knock me down to 100,000ish acres. Thankfully, I snatched 650,000 of that back and decided to take my leave from rank one and the game at about 700,000 acres.

I'm somewhat disappointed to see dragging of the feet when the game -seemed- fairly locked out. We could have decided to simply kill everyone we could to try and force a reset but while that would have been fun, it wouldnt've been terribly nice. So, speaking for myself and Gobbling Hordes, we're running off to spend our time on bigger and better things (ie, our own php-based game) at work.

Thanks for your hard work Admins, you made an entertaining game. Thanks to some of the more fun players I got to know (Ad and Ereptor) who realized that this is just a game and didnt take things too seriously.

Dont mess with the tater.

I've encountered this on some occasions as well, its just due to a LOT of guard towers.

Just build up more and poke him good.

Abuse. You are knowingly abusing a bug so that you are not attacked.

However, You are right I am affected by the same bug. I can't send aid to people you have attacked because of the bug. I can't attack you because of the bug. My clanmates can't attack you either and take back their land because of the bug. You are intentionally abusing the game's code in order to further yourself. Not to mention you came out of nowhere to do this during a period of time when no one else knew of the bug, save possibly the admins. I've no doubt you planned to use the bug in your favor because you and Leader both knew that your little prance around the upper ranks wouldn't last if you could be attacked in return. Ah, thats right. I'm forgetting the part where you laughed about it on the forums when we couldnt figure out what was going on.

When it comes down to it, I'm not gaining from this bug at all. Neither is anyone else that I know of, except you and Leader. I dont quite see how your "Anybody can abuse this bug also" attitude makes it okay for you to be doing it.

So you've been around the Redwall block a few more times than I have. Frankly that doesnt make any amount of difference to me. If you have to abuse the code, which is cheating mind you, then thats fine. If the administration of the game wants to let you do that, thats cool too. This is a game, after all, and meant to be enjoyed so get your jollies when  and where you can, kid.

So basically what you're saying then wolfbite is that you found a bug, reported it -and- decided to abuse it?

Is that correct?

I'll agree that the game seems a bit mixed up right now and there really is very little that players can do about it at the moment. Finals are coming up for a good number of us, and we'll have to either go into vacation (which is looking like a bad idea as we can still be attacked) or just suck it up and get ripped into.

Seems like this is one nasty bug in terms of affecting gameplay, though it is somewhat interesting to see we still get turns despite a systemtime error. Anyhow, I'm for -something- being done until this is fixed. Freeze the server, whatever.

Thats good to know at least, Retto, but why not let us know sooner? I posted a thread in the bugs section a few days back when this whole mess started and we didnt hear a word. Is seeming like things have been stacked in others' favor lately, what with not being able to prepare raiders unless I have a minimum of a 120% chance per the leaders/huts rule and so on.

Seeing how you say this is a bug, and WolfBite / Leader certainly knew about it and are abusing it (ie saving up 450 turns to spend all their time attacking, then hiding out because they can't be hit until they have another 450) isn't that a problem? It is for us as things stand. :P Only reason they've actually been able to -do- anything is because we can't hit them back.

A little flaky, suspect, and lame.

Dont complain. We havent been able to attack you on regular since Sunday :P

Some sort of mishandling of the system time is being done by the SQL server, it looks like.

If thats the case, if anyone is up for killing Badrang I'll throw some money your way as well.

Wolfbite attacked us, unprovoked. Nothing personal, just business.

Take your personal vendettas and squabbling elsewhere, Deadeye, this has nothing to do with Ereptor.
Unless its a "yes, i'm sorry" or to take the offer, I'd rather not see you speak here again.

As of late, two children have pestered my brethren. Wolfbite and Leader broke an alliance to strike at those stronger than themselves in a greedy attempt to upset the peaceful alliances that exist. The warriors proved more shrewd than powerful and have found a way to make themselves beyond our grasp. Our warriors cannot crush their fledgling empire as they have been attacked too recently, though no reports of such attacks have been made.

Tater offers a bounty exceeding 4,000,000,000 to any who fall these fledglings. If it is a group effort, each Warlord will be compensated for their time.

In addition, Tater offers 8,000,000,000 to any who can demonstrate the technique used by WolfBite and Leader. This agreement will only be offered if proof can be provided as well as a method for negating their cowardly tactic.

I am of the opinion that the rewards offered are generous, but I am open for negociations.
