General Discussion / Concerned Player

QuoteI don't really care as to what you think. Besides, try to kill me! You ran into protection from me. Now your land is moving up the ladder.

<_< Yeah I did run. You got me pretty bad initially, and conducting a war with that bug in place was just too much after such a hit. Had to do something to wait it out.

That "Something's wrong" post of mine was meant to be a general complaint, but ---- I'll stop complaining. The "bug" is fixed so accusing and whining about what's happened won't achieve anything.  Without some well supported arguements, I'll never be fully-convinced it was a simple glitch in the game that caused all that. The execution of that bug was too timely, too effective, and too well-executed in my opinion.

However, that being said, I'm glad we can get back to the business of lobbying for server reset and crushing both wolfbite andd leader into dust.

I like to give the admins the benefit of the doubt. Its gotta be tough to run one of these games, and redwall is one of the better tick-based games that I've found.

However, I also have no problem calling out when I see unfairness, abuse, etc...

Ahhh... ok,,, anger calmed. I know how annoying those kinda glitches in code can be to route out. I think that, even though it might be for a long time.. vacation mode is looking really good.

Turbo Discussion / Bounty's ???
April 24, 2003, 04:07:07 PM
ahh, but low rank players can be very dangerous.. I've been broken by rank 50 while rank 4 before. I prefer to kill off my enemies before they can do such.

Also, there's only so many turns.. What if you are getting attacked by too many people? a bounty brings in quick allies for a specific purpose and you don't have to worry about complicated alliances or anything.

mine's a misspelling of a spell from the AD&D player's handbook that somehow stuck.

ok, maybe I'm just sore from losing some of my land... But I'm curious to know what folks think, cause this smells fishy to me.

Wolfbite and leader come outa nowhere from almost no land to crack me and incisive fang with stoats on sunday.. Now I had enough defenses to block at least 9,000,000 stoats.  First question, how the heck do you build up an army of 9,000,000 stoats on less than 30,000 acres of land? I don't think this is fishy, I'm just curious.

Second, what bothers me most.. After the blitzkreig I was able to attack back some, but only about 10 times each on leader and wolfbite before they were maxed. That kinda sucks after suffering from nearly 20 attacks each.  According to the news search, no one else had hit them in the between time. So why the inbalance?
Third, no one was able to attack them back for days. Odd, every other time I've dealt with non-clan warlords, its been possible to hit them twice every hour after they were maxed out. I've combed over the forums but there's no offical notice of this change. I wonder if it applies to all non-clan warlords now. Right now, they are immune to assault as long as they don't attack. So tater has to just sit on its duff and just take it, hoping to be be able to hit back.

Fourth, as of sunday.. (hey hey, around the time I got sacked), I can no longer send aid. Clicking the link reveals the message, "cannot send more foriegn aid" automatically. Never mind that I have allies I might want to send aid to.  I only recently reported this in the bugs section so maybe the Admins just haven't gotten back to me.

Fifth, Split and I noticed that some of the attack/defense times for leader and wolfbite changed between the sunday assault and monday when we were counter-attacking. Odd indeed.

HOWEVER, all of this suddenly crops up at the same time when leader and wolfbite (both old players from my understanding) launch their assault on tater. I bet some of this can be explained, but the coincidence of attack with possible game changes and the surfacing of some "bugs" makes me suspect a setup.

Someone please prove me wrong on this... I like this game. :(

Btw-- I would've put this in bugs, but I feel its a broader issue than that

Bugs / Aid bug

I was sending tons of aid... but that stopped sunday night. The game simply won't let me send resources of any kind to anyone, ally or not.

Bugs / Aid bug

I haven't been able to send aid of any kind since sunday. Everytime I click the aid link, it says that I can't send anymore foriegn aid.  Tater has allies, but I can't send to them either.

Turbo Discussion / NEW FEATURE!!!
April 23, 2003, 10:22:11 AM
Not sure about the how's and whys, but it seems to only happen when people aren't in a clan. There's a big problem with this on the regular server right now.

Turbo Discussion / Bounty's ???

Bounties are very useful. I usually put them on people who have betrayed, fought dirty, or my clan is at open war with.  Also, it takes sooooo many turns to kill a player. Why not hire other people to spend their turns instead?

Turbo Discussion / NEW FEATURE!!!

Sweetness!! Jolly good idea!!  Very very convient, I must say. Beats systematically attacking folks to see who's maxed, and guessing who is in range. Kodus to the admins!

*regains composure*

The biggest "hidden rule" I can think of is fairness. If you change something in the game, it needs to apply, or potentially apply, to everyone. That brief raiders and moving restriction placed on Ereptor is a perfect vilotation of this - just look at the bitter arguements it instantly started. Changing it so that the top ten ranks had increasing difficulty at preparing raiders was a much better solution in my opinion. Making it apply to the turbo as well as the regular server was icing on the cake. Players work hard to get and keep their networth, getting it arbitrarily taken away (even the threat of such) scares and angers them. Targeting an individual is the quickest way I can think of to spark such.

Of course, I think that players, myself included, tend to ignore the hidden rules that apply to them as well. Its just so convient to bash the admins.

News / Updates / More Regulating

Ahh, so that's why I haven't been able to get my raiders to work today! Well, I'm glad that the change applies to rank as opposed to specific players. Gotta keep things fair or the game won't be fun.

General Discussion / If we want a reset...
April 19, 2003, 05:16:44 PM
Hmmm - point taken about delaying the unavoidable. There must be some way of addressing the land gap, but I don't know enough of the inner workings of the game to say.

Some suggestions would be...
-Since the northlands seem to present an attack bonus of some kind, why not attach a defense penalty to them as well? Easier to take, easier to lose
-Make leader operations harder to perform as land goes up. Right now simply demolishing huts is sufficent to make essential utility operations succeed.
-Or, make preparing raiders success/failure based on troop numbers. Massive Armies are tough to mobilize after all.

just some thoughts
