Congrats on the win Gier!

I really messed up with loyalty there, saved up way more than I needed 😅

General Discussion / Re: Favorite Memories of RWL?

From 300 rounds I've won probably 130 of them and given friends 40.

But that's just not true, is it Sevah?

RWL has been online for around 20 years, so if there were a new Turbo round every month, that would mean a total of 240 rounds.

The actual figure is lower though, because Turbo has been using 3 month rounds for what, the last 2 years? And even before then, I think there may have been some special rounds that lasted a bit longer.

This is excluding the fact that I don't think you even played for the first 10 years that RWL was around.

Eh, in some ways. It's a very small amount of resources though.

Running a cron feels like a better way to do it to me. I can see your point though.

I do vaguely remember the FaF codebase from when I was learning PHP and had no idea what I was doing haha. Does anyone know if it's available somewhere? Github or Sourceforge *shudder* perhaps?

It's a shame, but in every round I recollect playing recently, it's been abused.

As for the other changes, they sound good to me. Removing kills does seem a bit ... Weird, but considering the small playerbase and somewhat toxic atmosphere; I don't think it's a bad idea really.

FAF was fully cronless if I recall. Pretty neat. But yea, I had my fill of RWL code with RWL3, I don't plan on doing any significant code changes past this point. I'll help keep things running as long as there is interest in having a server, though.

What's the real benefit of having it work without a cron script?

There's surely the potential there for one user to get a bad experience due to the cron code running on their request (and potentially taking a bit of time).

I suppose it's easier to setup?

I'm not being dragged into another pointless arguement, I just wanted to chip in to say I don't think the market should be in any future rounds.

It's always used as a storehouse, regardless of whatever changes are made. I can think of ways to try and mitigate this, but there's probably always going to be some way to abuse it (especially with such a small playerbase).

Right, it's confusing because you say you're joking when you dislike me, then proceed to list the number of reasons you dislike me.

It's hard to tell jokes over the medium of text at the best of times, but I feel even more confused right now.

In terms of previous immorts etc. I forget the precise details regarding them all (and you do have to remember, in most of them I was probably a teenager). If you played using what I would consider dirty tactics, like last round for example, I think I'd probably have called you out on them. That said, there have definitely been times when you've won cleanly and deserve appreciation, so if in those instances I've insulted you, I do apologise.

I'll of course admit that you're a skilled player Sevah, more so than me I expect (I think most of the active players at the moment are probably better than me), but there is more to this game than skill in terms of net generation/destruction per turn.

You complain that we've been hassling you all round and making it harder for you to break the emp? Well, if you'd been more diplomatic and not killed two of us (with a third attempted kill) early in the round, completely unprovoked, then things might be different. Strategy also comes into play. Personally I don't think your strategy of leader attacking the emp is going to work, and I'd be very surprised if come the immort, the emp doesn't have (by far) the highest leader count.

Sorry to tell you but Arula and Hans Solo have been sacking the snot out of me and hitting me really low on land.
Due to them we haven't done enough damage yet. We all could have taken it down a month ago.
Yesterday I had 23million leaders and 30k land but I still failed the espionage.

We are thinking a few more days and we can finally take this emperor down.

Its a shame that nobody helped us because this round would have been fun if the community worked together.

Also. Since we did all the hard work to break this emperor I politely ask the rest of you to leave him alone once we get through.

Of course if you wish to join my clan for the last few weeks you're more than welcome

"You can get revenge, you can be a sore loser or you can adapt."

Sound familiar?

We were (well, I definitely was) prepared to put last round behind us, but you killed someone unprovoked at the start of the round, then followed up with a failed kill on Volk, and another successful kill on me (granted, I did online Snare, but I think that's fair retaliation for an unprovoked attempted kill).

Even after that, I did suggest in the other thread that maybe we could be diplomatic (http://www.redwallwarlords.com/forums/index.php?topic=17742.msg371354#msg371354), but this message was completely ignored.

You completely destroyed any good will that existed within the first two weeks of the round, and are only now complaining.

So please don't say things like "it would have been really fun if the community worked together" when you've actively worked against that from day 4 of the round. You still haven't addressed why you attempted a kill on Volk at the start of the round when we'd done nothing to provoke this; even an admission of guilt might have been enough but it's a bit late now.

If you do break the emp, we won't leave you alone either. Based on past experience you wouldn't have given us that courtesy, so why should we give it to you?

The kill was a direct result of onlining me halfway through a run. I hope it was worth starting over.
Maybe my memory is wrong here as none of this directly concerns me, but didn't you kill Volkov first?  ??? ??? ???

I repeat again: feeble stuff and feebler still are the excuses. This crap is why most people do not invest the time and effort into this site anymore.

I hadn't bothered addressing this as to me, there doesn't seem to be much point attempting diplomacy anymore.

Yes, the onlining and standards were retaliation for your failed kill run on Volk. Which, as far as I'm concerned, was completely unprovoked.

From my perspective, you fired the first rounds here.

Onlining is a dirty tactic, but you made extensive use of it last round, multiple times and indiscriminately. Even when we tried to be diplomatic about it (I would happily have come to an agreement where we didn't sack and you didn't online) you just rebuffed any attempts made are diplomacy.

Volk is right though, we should leave last round in the past. Maybe we can actually discuss this diplomatically and come to some kind of arrangement where we're not killing and onlining one another?

I agree with Snare. The maths surrounding rats offensively and defensively seems a little unbalanced to me (I also speak from experience last round).

I'm not too bothered about killing for now cos the emperor.

Volk n Sharpy is the only exception.

Can you please explain why? I'm not trying to be confrontational, I'm just genuinely curious about what I've done to deserve this status in your eyes.

Thanks ... I guess?
